Nevra entered the meeting room on the second floor with long strides, he was the last person to arrive to this impromptu meeting because he had some business to wrap up.

"At last!" Miiko said. "We have a dire situation on our hands!" She cleared her throat. "As we all know, a lot of members have left the guard in the last few years and we hadn't had new reqruits in many months. I propose that we start campaigning before too long."

"Is this why I needed to stop an interrogation? Couldn't this wait?" Nevra asked.

"No, this is just the least daunting of our problems. Huang Hua invited us to her birthday and we need to make sure HQ can function in our absence for up to two weeks. It's going to be hard to pull off when we're low on staff, so I suggest we get more people to enlist."

"Who is invited spacifically?" Ezarel asked. "Maybe we can get away with only sending you, even though I could kill to get to try their fruitcakes just once more!"

"Well, she requested for all of us. Not by name, allthough Valkyon and I are most definetly expected. The event will take place in two months and we have to get at least a hundred and twenty new reqruits in basic training by then. I would never leave HQ for that long if I'm not entierly sure that it can deal with anything unexpected, such as the masked man, more kidnappings or the influenza coming back." She listed everything from meteors hitting the tower to a literal war breaking out for as of yet unknown reasons. The men looked at her and weighed their odds of getting eaten alive if they tried to stop her rant.

"It's just two weeks, what could possibly happen?" Leiftan smiled calmly. "It will be fine, Miiko!"

She sighed, tucking a lock of silky hair behind her pointy ear on the top of her anxiety filled head. "Well, even if another witch hunt doesn't occur, we still need to hire more people if we don't want the operation to collapse. Any suggestions?"

"Dental health insurance?" Asked Ezarel, Nevra snorted and covered his mouth.

"Ask Hua to talk about it. People will eat it up and feel like they're saving the world just by enisting." Valkyon crossed his arms and leaned back on the long wooden table. "I know it sounds mean to say this, but people will do literally anything for her."

Silence. They know Val will say what he truly thinks, but when it comes out sounding like this they feel especially scummy that they agree...

"That is a great idea, Valkyon!" Leiftan said after thinking for a little while. "We could also make some long term programs, like offering diffrent training courses for young fae that would lead directly to employment if they choose to work for us?"

"Good idea. It would also make us look really good if we pretended to do it for public safety." Miiko fiddled with her staff.

"I thought we at least pretended that we did everything for public safety by default. Don't say that out loud, it'll haunt you one day." His amber eyes allmost burned a hole into the wall, he was intensely staring into the void. He's been cold and distant for so long that nobody mentioned it. Not that it was ever surprising, they all knew what his brother had meant to him. This bitterness was apparent from the first day he was appointed to be the opsidian leader and it never ceased. He has his bad days and today is clearly one of them.

"Ohhhkay..." The kitsune said. "Well, I'll take these ideas to the administrators. We will have another meeting to discuss the details of these uhhh-" She rubbed her temples. "Just go, I'm too tired for this."

They said their goodbyes and left her to have her daily eruption of rage in the soundproofed meeting room.

Nevra went down to the dungeons once again to have his hands covered in blood...
