While Karenn was hard at work alerting Lance of the tragedy that was happening to Kassvin, Chrome decided that the only thing he can do was to go find Leiftan.

The chill of an unusually cold autumn day and the nervousness brought on by being a mouse in a house full of cats made goosebumps dance on his whole body. He just escorted his vampire friend out of the almost flooded tunnels, now he's trying not to look like he's about to have a panic attack.

He raced up the stairs and erratically knocked on the door.

Ykhar, annoyed of course, opening the door and asked. "What is it?"

Fuck. How does he go about this?

"Umm, I would like to talk to Leiftan? Is he.... Do you know where he is?"

"No. Probably because he's busy. Why do you need to talk to him?"

He looked around, barely any people.

"Does the pope shit in the woods?" He whispered.

She looked puzzled for a few seconds before realizing that Chrome was one of the traitors. Why did Lance have to choose this sentence as a password? Because he finds it hilarious that Chrome had to say it with any amount of seriousness. The asshole we all want and need.

She let him enter and they went past her desk to the backroom. Leiftan still has his own desk here, since it's more convenient to have a work station close to where his coworkers can reach him. His upstairs office is more of a formality than a necessity.

There he is. Somehow his usual welcoming aura turned into a literal halo of hope and solace as the boy ran past Ykhar and leaned over his desk. He is the only possible savior he sees now.

"Moon and Fire have the Prince. He's being interrogated in the meeting room. Moons sister went to the temple to tell Ash." He whispered.

The codenames were saved from Ashkores wrath, he proposed calling Nevra 'Captain Dumbass Idiot' and Miiko 'Nerd'.

Just nerd. Not even a long fancy insult.

Ykhar was nervous. She just joined a week ago and they were already getting busted? This is terrifying.

"The other dragon is in the temple. Hopefully the sister will be careful." He stood up. "Don't worry, the Prince remembers nothing, and even if he does, he'll stay silent. I'll what I can do, you go hide."

Chrome then immediately climbed up the bookshelf ladder and jumped onto the infamous chandelier that was rumored to be haunted because it kept swinging randomly. It's swinging all the time because these two traitorous bastards keep using it to pull assassins creed level spy stunts every damn day to climb into the air wents.

Which are built into the stone and aren't made of flimsy bs aluminium like the ones they're trying to crawl into in bad movies. I mean, they're probably not bad movie for most people, I just have standards.

Ykhar, feeling awkward in her inaction, went back to her desk.

...

Cold, dark, wet. The endless dark below him could consume him.

He shivered, looking down into the abyss.

He could see his breath, illuminated by a sickly green lantern. He sobbed, hot tears burning his eyes as he was pushed into the water.

So cold. He couldn't help how his body reacted. He tried to breath in, but he was already underwater. The hand firmly holding his tangled hair didn't seem to budge as he struggled to surface.

Nevra pulled him back. He coughed so hard he couldn't get any air before he was sent back down.

'I'm going to drown.'
