Chapter 31

Darkness, demons, devils, angels, supernatural beings and powers, demonic creatures and so on. It was at that moment they believed in them.

Under the blood moon and night sky that was consumed by the darkness, Charlotte knelt down in front of a bald man in a red robe next to a river as red as blood. The man had horns growing in front of his head and his eyes were as dark as the night sky, His nails were very long and as sharp as bear claws, his teeth were sharp and black and his bald head shone under the bright light of the fire torch in his hand.

His hands caressed her cheek down to her mouth, he stuck a finger down her throat slicing her tongue and Charlotte cried in pain. He took out his finger from her mouth and licked the blood on it, he walked towards the bloody river and gestured for Charlotte to follow and she did, crawling like an animal. On getting to the river, he bent over to whisper to into her ear "From this day onward, you belong to me, we will forever be as one". Pulling her hair backwards, he dipped her head into the water and Charlotte struggled for her breath. An hysterical laughter echoed through the water and a fish like creature approached her from the depth of the red sea snapping it's jaws. It opened its mouth wide revealing the thousand of teeth in his mouth and just at that moment, Charlotte woke up.

"You're awake!" her mother yelled running to her.

Charlotte sat up in the hospice bed gasping loudly "Mom! Dad!"

Her parents rushed to her with joyful tears in their eyes and she hugged them both. "Mom I'm so sorry" Charlotte said with tears in her eyes.

"It's okay baby, you're fine now" Charlotte's mother replied placing a kiss on her forehead.

"Nothing will ever hurt you again, the criminal has been caught" Charlotte's father added as he patted her on her head.

"What... What do you mean?" Charlotte asked.

"What's her name again, uhm I think Esmay"

"What happened to Esmay?"

"Oh you know her" Charlotte's mom questioned.

"Yes I do, what happened"

"She confessed to the police about killing a few of the students from your school including your friends and.. Our Kai" Charlotte's mother said as she began sobbing again and her husband cuddled her.

"What?! That doesn't make any sense!"

"I know dear, she's just a psycho" her dad said still holding his wife.

"No that's not it dad! She didn't do it"

"What do you mean?" Charlotte's mom asked.

"She didn't do any of those things, what did Lottie and Chase say?"

"Well they told the cops how she kidnapped all of you and was killing you for her own pleasure"

"What! No! No that's not it"

"Good morning Tom"  a masculine figure voiced out as he walked through the door, his attire made it obvious he was a police officer.

"Officer Archie, it's so nice to see you" Charlotte's father responded.

"Charlotte, how do feel?" officer Archie asked shifting his gaze to Charlotte.

"Officer what's happening, where's Esmay I need to talk to her" Charlotte said

Officer Archie's emotion became somewhat sad and he took a deep sigh "I'm sorry to tell you this but we walked in to her cell this morning only to find her lying in a pool created by her own blood".

"Dear god!" Charlotte's mom said covering her mouth with her hands.

"And on the wall, she wrote the words 'See you later' with her own blood".

"That's clearly the sign of a big time psychopath" Tom said.

"Did you investigate maybe it was murder and not suicide?" Charlotte's mom asked.

"In fact we did Clara, but every clue revealed it was suicide. Her body has been taken for autopsy, her parents asked to see if there was any drug or something in her system".

"I feel bad for her parents" Clara said.

"That's not true, what's going on? That's not what's happened! Why is Chase and Lottie lying?! I need to talk to them!". Immediately, Charlotte sprung off the bed and headed towards the door "Charlotte stop!" her mother yelled but she refused.

Officer Archie made an attempt to catch her but she was too quick. She made her way to the hallway and started searching every rooms to find her friends. Her parents, officer Archie and a few nurses chased after her and finally caught up to her "No let me go! Everybody's lying!" she yelled struggling with the nurses. She felt a sting on her neck and she noticed an injection, one of the nurses had injected her with sedatives and her vision became blurry, from blurry to total darkness and she collapsed to the ground.

It was believed that Charlotte was mentally unstable and was taken to the rehabilitation center. Her parents hoped and prayed every day for the full recovery of their daughter. Sometimes she'd see her dead friends and sometimes have dreams about herself being in an occultist group.

She started doubting herself and thought she was truly insane, even when Chase and Lottie visited her, they'd tell her there wasn't any demon and she's just imagining those things.

For many years, the rehabilitation center was home to Charlotte, she had lost her mind completely or so they thought. Damian and Esmay became her best friends and together, they plotted an escape plan for Charlotte which was successful.

Many years later.

"Okay, thank you officer" Tom said hanging up the phone.

"Any news?" Clara asked inquisitively but Tom just nodded negatively "Dear god please help me find my daughter" she prayed with tears in her eyes and Tom embraced her "Well find her dear, I promise" he assured her placing a kiss on her head.

The doorbell rang and Clara wiped her face "Who's there?" but there was no reply, instead the bell rang again "Who's there? I'm coming!" she rushed to open the door and the face she saw made her gasp loudly.

"Mommy I'm home" Charlotte said smiling sinisterly.
