Chapter 14

"Guys snap out of it "

Kai was finally able to separate the furious two but not without getting a few hits to the face.

They were sore and bruised and seriously bleeding, they needed medical attention, immediately!.

All the wounds on his body didn't seem to bother Chase mattews, all he cared about was Charlotte. Is she okay, I hope she didn't bleed much.

"What got into you two, you almost killed my sister! "

Okay calm down Kai, that's a little over the top don't you think?

I mean yeah she got hurt but was she battered and bruised like these two?, not even barely.

"is she okay " Chase asked

"She's fine, just a little scratch on her head and marks on her neck. Did one of you try to strangle her? " Kai asked demanding an answer from them.

"I know I didn't" Chase said as he looked outside the window.

Kai turned to look at Rufus with questioning eyes, they locked gazes for just a second but Rufus felt guilty and looked away.

"Well you knuckle heads better get some rest, you need it" Kai said as he angrily marched out of the room.

"Are you okay char? " Myrtle asked

"yeah I'm fine, it's just a scratch "

"What happened in there?" Lottie said

Charlotte noticed her brother returning from Chase's and rushed to meet him ignoring her friends question.

"Is he okay? " she asked with anxiety written all over her face

"Well Rufus is good i—" cut off by his sister

"Not him! Chase "

"Ohh, well Chase is okay, he has a lot of bruises though buts he's a strong guy, I'll drive them both to the hospital tomorrow and you as well, you need a check-up" he said as he placed his hand on her head

"Thank goodness he's okay " she replied with a sigh of relief

"are you gonna tell us what happened up there? " Kai asked in the most gentle tone he had ever used while he gently massaged her shoulders.

"I'm not in the mood to talk " she snubbed him and went straight to bed.

EARLY IN THE MORNING when they all woke up, Chase was already gone and so was his car.

"Any of you know where Chase went ?" Charlotte said as she poured herself a glass of orange juice.

"Why do you care so much, are you guys dating? " Rufus angrily said.

"What is wrong with you!, you just barged in last night and you almost killed him"

"What is wrong with me!, me!, why don't you tell everyone what was so funny last night huh! " he angrily said as he slammed his hand on the table.

"Guys chill, I'll try to contact him" Kai said

"I've tried calling him but he's not answering " Charlotte said as she crossed her hands around her chest

"don't worry we'll find him, and you two, we will discuss this later" Kai said as he pointed a finger at both of them.

WALKING out of a coffee shop was no other than Chase, he got into his Toyota truck.

He hopped into the drivers seat and squeezed the wheels tight. He slammed the door shut and brought out his phone staring at the one million missed calls from Charlotte.

He tossed the phone aside and started the engine then put the truck to neutral.

As he was about to drive, a lady was standing in front of his car and he quickly stepped on the breaks.

"Woah!—" he jacked open the door and ran to her "—are you okay? "

"I'm good, it's fine, you didn't hit me " the lady said with a genuine smile

Chase couldn't help but to stare at the very attractive lady, her black and shiny hair was let down to flow to the length of her waist, her amazing lightening blue eyes struck him like actual lightening, her lips plum and red.
She had on a mini armless dress which exposed her thighs and white snickers.

"ugh, hi"

"hey, my name is Esmay " she said as she stretched out her perfectly manicured hands

He took it and shook her for a while

"Uhm where are you heading, do you need a ride? " he asked smirking at her

"oh thank you, Im just walking around, can I go where you're going? " she said as she moved closer to him and touched him seductively

"oh uh I'm heading home "

"then let me join you " biting her lips

"get in then"

Everyone at home soon began to worry, Chase would never leave without telling anyone his whereabouts.

Charlotte was more worried knowing about the demon, what if he'd been kidnapped, what if he is hurt, what is something bad had happened to him?

As all those thoughts ran through her head, Chase opened the door holding hands with Esmay

"Dude where were you!—" Kai said as he stood up to meet him "—and who is she "

"I'm not a kid, you don't have to worry about me, and this, this is Esmay my girlfriend "

"girlfriend? " Charlotte said with her hands around her chest

"Yeah"

"Are these your friends baby"

"no, they're just people I live with" he said.

He turned towards the stairs still holding Esmay's hand and marched towards his bedroom.

Okay, that was weird, dating a girl you just met that very day, I believe love at first sight exists but isn't this a little....  to fast?.

They all settled in the living room each doing a thing or two. Chase emerged from his room and settled on the handle of the chair.

"Hey guys, Esmay and I were just talking and she said she has a surprise for us " Chase said

"A surprise?, what is it?" Myrtle asked

"You'll find out! " Esmay said as she skipped down the stairs

"Come on" she ran out the door pulling her boyfriend—Chase behind her

Seeing them like that just made Charlotte feel disgusted. Ever since Chase returned, she had had the intention to talk to him but he would ignore her.

They drove off in their cars, Rufus and Charlotte were in the same vehicle but didn't say a word to each other.

PULLING OVER at a shabby looking house, Esmay got out of the car and gestured for them to go in and they did, all but one

"Guys no wait!, it's not safe to go in there!! " Charlotte screamed out

"Why hon, what wrong? " Lottie asked.

"you don't understand, this is...  It's the...." she said cowering in fear and her erected finger shaking seriously.

That house, that house was the house of the demons itself and Esmay was leading them right into it.
