Chapter 19

They were all staring at each other with fear written all over their faces when suddenly the phone buzzed again

"30 seconds... tick tock "

"oh my gosh I need to do my dare.... I need to remove my tooth now!!! " Charlotte yelled out

She rushed into the kitchen scampering through the cabinet for something to use then something caught her eyes, a Plyer, she ran to the living room and gave it to Chase to remove the tooth for her

"What no, I can't do it "

"Chase please I beg you, I don't want to die please " she pleaded

"please "

He hesitated but the pain she would feel wouldn't be compared to the one he would feel if she died.

He collected it from her, she opened her mouth and he placed it on her molar tooth

"few more seconds guys!! " Kai yelled out with his eyes focused on the ticking clock

"do it now Chase!!" Lottie screamed

"Chase!!! " Rufus yelled

Chase was too scared to do it and they all knew it, Charlotte was already crying, she knew Chase wasn't going to do it and it was too late to switch to someone else.

Few seconds left on the clock, Kai was getting impatient, he wasn't ready to loose his sister. He dropped the phone on the table and rushed to his sister, pushed Chase out of the way and pulled the Plyer straight out with a bloody tooth.

He had a firm grip on the plyer so it was a little easier for the tooth to pull out.

"Ahhhh!!!" she cried out in pain

Her mouth was filled with blood and blood also stained her clothes.

They quickly searched for alcohol to sterilize the wound, they gave her everything possible to stop the bleeding.

"I'm so sorry baby I just couldn't loose you " Kai said as tears filled his eyes and his lips turned into an upside down smile

"it's fine... I'm... I'm good " she struggled to get the words out of her mouth without spitting blood on him or anyone.

On the ground laid the bloody tooth and the plyer covered in blood as well.

They were all still trying to help Charlotte when Rufus phone beeped. An odd silence engulfed the room for a moment then Rufus brought out his phone to read the message

"what happened on July 4th? "

He stared at the message and then looked up at everyone, for some reason he didn't want to tell anyone what had happened on July 4th

Myrtle jacked the phone from him "okay what happened on July 4th?, tell us"

He opened his mouth but the words refused to come out

"no I... I can't I... I can't tell you guys "

"what!, are you crazy?, how bad could it be that you prefer to loose your life than to tell us " Lottie said

"Rufus please!" Charlotte managed to utter

"I... Promise me you won't get mad " he said as he moved closer to hold Charlotte's hands

She nodded in agreement then he continued, taking a deep breath before speaking

"on July 4th after the party... Well Uhm after you... you left...uhm *clears throat * Myrtle and I we... We Uhm, we made out "

"what "

"yeah Uhm we, we had s*x actually "

"oh my God!" she yelled freeing herself from his hold. She turned and walked away

"no baby wait, we were drunk and we didn't even know how it happened!...  Babe I —"

"zip it!, I don't want to hear anything from you, you know the fact that you guys made love to each other hurts but it doesn't hurt as much as the fact that you hid it from me. If truly you felt guilty for your actions then you would have came clean.... No wonder you enjoyed kissing each other so much " she said as she ran up the stairs in tears

"no char I'm sorry please " Myrtle said but it was too late.

"I'm dissapointed in you both, your sight disgusts me! " Chase said with rage

He ran after Charlotte but she had already locked the door and refused to open up for anyone

"hey Char it's me—Chase, you don't have to let me in, I just want to know if you're okay "

But she didn't reply

Through the wooden door, he could hear the sound of poor Charlotte sobbing, the guy she was crazy for seemed to be crazy for another woman.

"hey remember when I refused to open up back then, cause you found out how I felt for you. I didn't want to talk to anyone, especially you. But something in me requested for you so badly I was left with no choice but to let you in " he paused

The sobbing had stopped and he heard footsteps approaching the door. He instantly threw himself off the ground, he had previously settled on the dusty floor when she refused to open the door.

He continued this time on his feets staring at the door waiting for her to open up

"when I let you in, you fixed everything, you fixed me and I never regretted any single moment we spent together back then, I don't regret letting you in. Maybe if you let me in, I might not be able to heal your wounds but I can offer you a shoulder to cry on "

He stood silently at the door waiting for a reply but heard nothing. He thought maybe not everyone needs a shoulder to cry on, maybe some people needed to be left alone.

He turned to walk away but the door crept open. He stared at her for a while, she was a mess.

She was putting on a bloody top, her cheek had swollen from the forceful removal of the tooth and her tears had washed the mascara down her face.

After staring at her messy self for a while, all he said was "you are very beautiful "

She pulled him in and hugged him and he squeezed her even more

"I won't tell you everything is alright cause it's not, and I won't tell you not to cry because big girls cry when they're heart broken. But let's go inside so you can sit and rest comfortably on my shoulders " he said with a warm smile and she nodded in response.

His smile, that warm smile left a burning sensation in her body and sent shivers down her spine. At that moment, even though she just got her heart broken, even though she might die, all that mattered was him and the longing feeling she felt towards him.
