you never forget your first love.

the way they made your day as you'd watch them pass you by, the flutter of your heart when they noticed you looked at them. or the way you suddenly become tongue-tied trying to explain something because they were always on your mind.

or the way they noticed your focused stares but it startled you once they returned your look. their silent gazes, kind or meaningless gestures, anything about them would make your cheeks ache from the smile they caused to plaster across your face.

the first day they met, her heart fluttered like the wings of a butterfly, flying away with her doubts of love at first sight.

snowflakes fell atop the roofs of buildings in the small town. it wasn't a very populated town, everybody seemed to know each other and get along well.

that had brought ease to the girl, Lavender's, heart. a tight knit community that relied on each other for news, for warnings and guaranteed invites. though, it was difficult when the only younger people in the town had been the people who attended her art school. she had a gift for painting and sculpting and attending an art school meant pursuing her dreams of becoming an artist.

she couldn't help but compare herself to the other twenty people in her class who she thought were extraordinary with skill pouring out from their fingertips.

all these thoughts ran across her mind as she made her way to the bus stop. with her fists tucked into the knitted gloves sewn from the hands of her grandmother, she stuffed them into the pocket of her coat and walked along the sidewalks to the near bus stop.

cars weren't commonly used in the town, mostly bicycles and buses. though, Lavender chose to commute via walking or taking the bus depending on the weather. it was almost too cold today, so she decided to take the bus commute.

snow fell atop her dark hair and eyelashes. she blinked over and over again, hoping the snow would melt so she could see where she was going. failing, she looked up at the sky and held her hands, palm facing up to the sky, smiling at the sight of snowfall bliss.

she sat at a near bus bench, waiting outside of her grandmother's flower shop. the snowdrops had just recently bloomed along the outsides of the store. she loved the snowdrops that bloomed in the winter. it was unique to her, every flower is known to bloom in the spring time, but snowdrops were so beautiful yet paid no heed to. those thoughts inspired her pieces, so did things like random or obscure objects.

with her head down and staring at her snowboots, she realized this was the first time she wasn't alone on this street, waiting for the bus. she looked up from across the street of her to see a boy. a boy who plastered the biggest smile on his face, joyful, blissful.

with his hands out to the sky, he stood to the sidewalk, collecting snowflakes in the palms of his hands. what she did notice was that he looked rather upset once he watched it melt in his hands.

it fascinated Lavender that he didn't care that he was in public. he would dance around in the snow without fearing judgment and that was so beautiful to her. he hadn't noticed her looking at his sparkling eyes or his white scarf to warm his neck.

his eyes held the world-no-the entire galaxy in them. Lavender thought they were bright enough to save all evil in the world. he was beautiful, inside and out.

she didn't want it to seem like she were staring like some creepy stalker so she looked away, looking through her art portfolio. but why was it so difficult, painful, to tear her eyes away from the happiness he radiated? she felt a tug at her heart, urging her to look away from his beauty and aura.
