Lavender was left confused as she sat at the bus bench. the bus would come at any moment now to take her to class, but all she could think about was the boy.
just as she began to doubt, she turned her head to the right to see Beomgyu walking directly to the bus bench. she wanted an explanation but she also wanted him to be alright. before she could ask anything, he took a seat next to her.
clutching tightly with the portfolio in her hands, she looked at the boy who sat at her right. her eyes laid upon his puffy eyes, slightly concealed with his scarf. though, his sobbing eyes weren't noticeable until studied.
Beomgyu turned his head once he felt the girl looking at him. they made eye contact as he watched the snow fall to her hair and eyelashes.
"you came." she smiled at the boy and for the first time since yesterday morning, he smiled back at her.
"even if i didn't want to come today," he paused for a moment. "i wanted to keep my word."
they maintained eye contact for a few seconds before looking away. they stared straight, as if they were animated. Beomgyu could tell from Lavender's eyes that she didn't get much sleep either.
she was evidently exhausted. her eyes slightly closing until she flinched at a random passerby sound. Beomgyu was concerned about her eye bags, her slightly red eyes and drowsiness.
he wanted to ask her if she were okay or if she needed something to help her, but before he could, he felt a head hit his shoulder. he watched with widened eyes as the girl rested her head against the shoulder of the boy, unconsciously.
Beomgyu was surprised at their early physical contact, first the hug and now this? was this how friendships worked, he hadn't had very many experiences. being the shyer type of boy, he was often quiet and reserved in classes. but, he wanted Lavender to be his first real friend after so long, so he went out of his way to be more social when it came to her.
little did Beomgyu know, Lavender was also the quiet type. she didn't bother to make any friends in the class, considering how most of them were either judgmental or blatantly rude. but, she did make a couple of friends but ones that weren't very close to her.
he didn't know what to do about this situation though, he hadn't prepared for this. fearful of waking the girl up from her evident sleepless nights, he laid his head upon hers and closed his eyes gently, making sure not to fall asleep so he could wake Lavender up for the bus's arrival.

Lavender walked into class and took her seat at her regular single table. she loved how the class was set up, a work station for each individual student. she enjoyed individual work, but hated group work. she was glad that her professor never assigned it because she wouldn't know what to do if she did.
she rubbed her eyes, forcing herself to stay awake. she had stayed up all night surprising her grandmother by redecorating and fixing the shop from autumn to winter season. though her grandmother loved it, Lavender regretted risking her sleep. the regret faded away upon remembering how exhausted and pained her grandmother always was. if there was anyway at all to help her, Lavender would do it, even if it meant risking her sleep.
