D - 40it was the day before the winter dance and Beomgyu still hadn't asked Lavender. in his head, he imagined a thousand perfect ways to ask her but he didn't know which one to go for. would she even like him the way he likes her?
within the five days, Beomgyu and Taehyun still couldn't handle each other. they would do the simplest gestures to annoy each other, like blowing raspberry or sticking their tongues at each other—it was the stupidest thing ever.
it was December 18th, the peak of winter with heavy snowfall and freezing cold weather. Beomgyu absolutely loved the snow, so this was his favorite time of year.
the fact he would be leaving February 1st terrified him though. he needed to tell Lavender immediately but something would always get in the way. he would tell her soon, he promised himself.
Lavender was even more bummed she didn't get to go to the dance. she was even more certain about her feelings for Beomgyu and she didn't want to ruin their friendship by asking him to go with her.
she told her grandmother this while shopping yesterday at a dress store. she made Lavender buy a dress, even if she wouldn't go because "buying dresses makes everybody feel better". so now, her gold ball gown stays hung up and tucked away in her closet, hoping to be worn.
she even had her hair clips and crown which she bought from an accessory store that her grandmother had also forced her in yesterday.
but she regretted buying it.
she decided she'd go, even if it meant she was going to be alone, she wouldn't want such a lovely dress go to waste from an unrequited love.

the next day,
Beomgyu walked to the flower store, slowly regretting his decision once he saw the same boy behind the cash register. he didn't even work here, it didn't make any sense.
"ugh." Beomgyu scoffed jokingly. "what are you doing here?"
"i'm not allowed to be here?" Taehyun retorted back at him. "Lavender's getting ready for the dance with her grandmother. she asked me to watch over the store."
"she's going?!" Beomgyu exclaimed. "she has a date?!"
"calm down, chestnut," Taehyun looked at him and laughed. "she's going alone. are you going?"
"i actually.....need your help....with something." Beomgyu looked down at his fingers as Taehyun bursted into laughter.
"okay, why'd you actually come here?" Taehyun's smile went away once he saw there wasn't a hint of laughter in him. he took a seat across his table and organized some roses while listening. "what do you need?"
"i want to ask Lavender to the dance." Beomgyu sighed. "i came to buy her flowers."
"liar."
"and i came because i need to go buy a suit and i don't want to go alone, gosh you're so annoying." Beomgyu crossed his arms and scoffed.
