Alfie- Family Tea

Today I have invited my brothers, sister, aunt and cousin for tea at mine and Alfie's home

"Alf can you pass me some plates?" I ask my husband as I'm putting down the cutlery
"You could have asked a maid YN to do this"
"I know, but tonight is going to be special" I smile up at Alfie
"Oh it will be special alright" Alfie mumbles. I roll my eyes at him
"Alfie. Please play nice. Don't hit Arthur or Tommy. If they are idiots let me hit them, but you keep your hands to yourself" I playfully poke
"Don't I always play nice?"
"No Alf you really don't. Need I remind you about this morning?" I cross my arms
"Oh come on love. He'll wake up. Granted he won't have any teeth left, but he'll be a wiser man for it"
"Hmm" i hum in response.

Tea is almost ready when the door to mine and Alfie's house opens
"Alright let's get this over with" I hear Arthur grunt
"Something we can agree on" Alfie mumbles
"Alf help me bring the food into the dinning room please" I kiss Alfie's cheek. I leave our kitchen and go to greet my family
"Evenin YN" John says hugging me
"We're having tea in the dining room" I show my brothers, aunt and cousin to the dining room. I help Alfie bring out all the food and we all sit down
"I have to admit I do miss your cooking" Finn says after taking a bite of the food
"Aye what's wrong with my cooking?" aunt Poll says offended
"Nothin but YN's is so good" Finn replies making me giggle
"So why are we here?" Tommy asks taking a sip of his whiskey
"I can't have my family over for a lovely meal, that I have been slaving over all day, and it mean nothin?"
"No 'cause you wouldn't have Arthur and Alfie in the same room for no reason" Ada now speaks. I look at Alfie and sigh
"Ok well.. there is something I want to talk to you all about"
"Oh no" Michael says with a worried expression
"So?" John gestures with his hand for me to continue
"Errm, ok so me and Alfie are gonna be parents" I say nervously. I hear Arthur put his whiskey glass down a little to hard, I'm surprised the glass didn't break
"So you and Alfie are getting a dog, that's lovely YN" Tommy claps his hands smiling at me, but I know it's not a genuine smile as he doesn't want to hear that I'm pregnant 
"Well yeah I guess, but we're also having a baby Tom" Tommy chuckles. I look at. Alfie confused, but he just shrugs at me
"I'm sorry, but I thought you just said your and Alfie are having a baby, 'cause if that's true then you and him have had...."
"Yes Tommy we all know how you have a baby" Ada rolls her eyes "congratulations to you both" I smile at Ada grateful that my younger sister is happy for me
"Thank you"
"Poll?" I look at my aunt with a worried expression
"I'm happy for you. Have you had any sickness?"
"Yeah unfortunately"
"Ginger biscuits. You hear that Alfie. Tomorrow you go out and buy YN ginger biscuits"
"Yes mam"
"So you're actually pregnant?" John says
"I am and we're really happy"
"Well then, I guess we can't be to mad. You are married after all what did we expect. Right boys?" Arthur and Tommy grunt. I mouth 'thank you' to John
"Let's make a toast, to the newest Shelby child" Michael raises his glass
"Shelby? his or her name will be Solomons"
"Yes but, they will always be a Shelby by heart. Good luck with that Alfie. I almost feel bad for you dealing with two Shelbys" Tommy smirks
"What are you on about?"
"Have you not met Johns kids?" Arthur now laughs
"They're joking Alf" I kiss Alfies cheek then look at my brothers with a smile knowing Alfie really is going to have his work cut for him.
