Shelby Sister- Hiccups

"Good morning love" Polly greets me as I walk into the kitchen. Ada is sat at the table eating some jam and bread
"Mor *hiccup* ning"
"Got the hiccups have you?" I nod my head hiccuping "hmm try having a drink" Polly puts a cup of tea in front of me. I take a sip trying not to spill the tea all over myself as I hiccup.
I drink my tea but I'm still hiccuping every few seconds
"This *hiccup* isn't wor *hiccup* king" I groan getting annoyed
"Morning Poll, YN" tommy says entering the kitchen
"Good *hiccup* morning *hiccup* Tommy" I sigh placing my head in my arms on the table
"Morning Tommy" Polly greets Tommy "YN you have to give it time love. It will pass eventually. Here try this" I lift my head up and Polly walks over with a tea spoon of salt?
"Salt?" I question raising my eyebrows
"Not salt. Sugar" I take the spoon from her and eat the sugar but still have the hiccups
"Try holding your breath" Tommy suggests. I take in a deep breath but still carry on hiccuping
"That's all I've got. I'll see you later" and with that Tommy walks out of the house all together.

The day continues and I'm still hiccuping. I enter the garrison where Isaiah, Finn and Micheal are
"Hi YN" Isaiah greets
"Hi *hiccup*" I say sadly walking over to the table where the boys are sat
"Got the hiccups?" Micheal frowns. I just nod my head hiccuping
"Tried holding your breath?" Finn asks
"Yeah that's *hiccup * what's Tom *hiccup* my told me to *hiccup* do"
"Have you tried sucking a lemon? whenever I have hiccups that's what I do and it works" Micheal suggests
"Ill give *hiccup* it a go"
"I'll go and see if Harry has got any" I nod my head at Finn then rest my head on my hands
"How long have you had the hiccups?" Micheal asks
"Since I woke *hiccup* this morning" Finn comes over holding half a lemon. I take it from him and suck on it making me scrunch my face. We all wait for a couple of seconds hoping that the hiccups have stoped. But alas they continue.

Later on we return from the garrison. The time is now 3 in the afternoon and at this point I'm starting to feel sick from the hiccups. I walk into the betting shop with Finn and Micheal where Arthur is staring at the books
"I best *hiccup* go and *hiccup* help him" I tell the boys who head into Micheals office. I walk over to Arthur and pull the book from him all the while hiccuping
"Still got em ay?" I sigh nodding my head taking a pencil and correcting the books "stay here" he tells me and walks into Tommys office. Arthur then returns with a brown back "blow in and out of it"
"I've tried *hiccup* every *hiccup* thing. This isn't *hiccup* going to work"
"Just try it" I sigh taking the bag from him. I take deep breaths but carry on hiccuping
"I give up" I say throwing my hands in the air "I'm *hiccup* going to *hiccup* bed" I don't even let Arthur say anything. I walk out and head upstairs. I open my door and close it behind me when I feel hands on my shoulders "aghhh" I turn and see John smiling "what the hell are you doing?!" I shout at him. John stays quiet "well?"
"I just cured your hiccups" I frown at him
"John I've tried everything and nothing works. I haven't been able to speak without..." I stop realising I haven't hiccuped "John I bloody love you" I hug him tight "thank you"
"Your welcome" he laughs
"Wait how did you know I had the hiccups? I haven't seen you all day?"
"Tommy told me. Said he tried helping which meant he told you to hold your breath then gave up"
"Ok but why did you have to wait in my room and how long have you been waiting for?"
"Not long. Saw you walking into the shop and knew you would come up soon. Now, now your hiccups have gone fancy coming to the garrison?"
"Naaa I'm alright. Feel a little sick actually"
"You know I have a cure for that"
"You do?" I frown
"Yeah. It's called whisky. Let's go" I roll my eyes but allow John to lead me out of my room and towards the garrison.
