A couple days blurred by since Jinx had attacked The Council. Caitlyn had been in and out of the hospital visiting her mom. I dropped her off and went to leave this time but she grabbed my forearm. Her eyes were pleading.

"Don't worry I'll be back tomorrow..." I said, grazing her cheek.

"Don't go Vi, please."

"I have to find her Caitlyn, she did this. This all has to stop."

"I know and we will find her. Together."

"You should be with your family. I don't want anyone else to get hurt."

"Vi... I — please stay with me."

"Here? They all hate me Cait." I motioned to the few people on the street. More than one had scowled at me as we had walked there.

"I could never hate you. None of this is your fault. You saved so many out of that damn tower. I —"

"I could have stopped her."

"No. No one could have. I couldn't." She shook her head and grabbed my hand with both of hers.

... "Come in with me please Vi. Let me check on my mother then we can go."

I let out a small sigh, "alright, but only for you Cupcake."

She led me by the hand as we walked to her mother's room. Her mom was a little awake and her dad gave Caitlyn a hug. He smiled at me. "She's doing better today dear." He said and sat down beside her mother grabbing her hand.

She looked pale but her eyes focused on Caitlyn, then me, then back to Caitlyn. She nodded and looked back at her father closing them once more.

"Is there anything we can do?" Caitlyn asked her father.

"No dear they're taking really good care of us here. The doctors and I agree if she takes to the prosthetics well we could be taking her home in a couple of weeks."

"Oh that is good news." Caitlyn's eyes wandered looking her mom over.

"You should take her home Vi. You both could use some rest." He motioned to me and gave a nod.

"Hmm yeah... ok sir."

"Tobias is just fine. I'll see you tomorrow dear." He gave Caitlyn a squeeze on the hand. She placed a small kiss on his cheek before turning to leave.

I walked Caitlyn home thinking about the poor state of her mom and the kindness they somehow all had for me, despite everything. These were good people. I thought if Zaun only knew the good parts and people of Piltover we wouldn't have so much blood shed. And if Piltover knew the hardships and pain of Zaunites they would definitely want to change the state of things like Caitlyn did. Maybe we could change some of it together.  I gave her a nudge with my elbow as we got close to her home. I kept my hoodie still on so no one else would really know who I was.

I paused outside her door.

"Vi, please stay with me." She reached for my hand holding it tight. "I can see it in your eyes... please don't — If one of us goes after her one of us will come back in a box. There's no telling what she's capable of."

"No, I can't let that happen, I can do this myself Cait — no one else needs to get hurt. I can't let you get hurt."

"No Vi. You simply can't do this on your own. You know that. She is too much for any one of us now." She grabbed my face gently with one palm holding my hand gently with the other. Ther thumb grazed over my wrapped knuckles. "Please, let's figure this out together." She searched for a reaction. All I could do was try not to cry. After a minute I'm silence her arms flew around my neck grabbing me into a fierce embrace. I held on to her tightly. Now we both  couldn't help but cry into each other's shoulders.

Caitlyn didn't let go, she pleaded whispering into my ear, "please don't leave me again."

I dug my face into her neck. I couldn't let her go. This feeling was surreal. I really deeply cared for her even in the short time that I knew her. She made my heart ache and race like I had never felt before. She made me feel so safe. She meant everything to me. She pulled back putting her hair behind her ear looking intently at me.

"Caitlyn I've got—" I started but wasn't sure what I could say or what I should do. I just knew I wanted to stay by her side. I grabbed her hand gently.

"You can stay with me.. well us. I mean — my family." She said kind of flustered motioning to the mansion behind her.

"Hmm, oh? You sure they would want a sump-rat staying in their home?" I smirked sniffling.

"Heh, well I don't mind. And they won't care either." We both were cleaning the tears off our faces now. I hated to see her so upset. Part of my heart was breaking just looking at her.

"I don't know Cupcake I kind of make a mess of things..." I motioned to my very dirty outfit.

She chuckled, "you do and so do I. Just a couple of misfits I suppose." She wasn't taking no for answer. If I'm entirely honest I didn't mind. I didn't want to leave her side. I didn't want her to let me go. And I knew we could have some chance of fixing things if we stayed together, if she was willing.

She led me through the massive doorway. I was still in awe of the place. She glided up the twisting stairs leading me slowly by the hand. I felt every part of the white banister with gold inlay. Every step of tiles blue and white. I head every click of her boots ahead of me. My mind started racing. This was too much. I didn't deserve any kind of luxury like this. We came to her room and she shut the door behind us. Shutting us in alone and away from everyone and everything else.

She took off her coat as I starred around the room once more. We took off our shoes. Her floor was still littered with leads and photos, maps and strings. She grabbed me by the hand and led me around them all to the window diverting my gaze.

"I know out there there's so much work to be done. But in here we can have some peace. Some time to just be us and get away from it all for a little while." She didn't let go of my hand then grabbed the other. Facing each other now she smiled. I could smell her, she really was so sweet. Her brilliant blue eyes penetrated my being. I smiled back then slowly dropped my eyes down to my feet — still feeling like this all was largely my fault. How could I tell her how I felt? How could she be so kind and forgiving? How could she want me here?

"Vi," she reached for my chin to pull my gaze back up as if knowing exactly what I was thinking.

"I want you. Just you."

I think my jaw nearly hit the floor. Or it would have if she wasn't holding it. I just stared at those piercing eyes and that beautiful face. She paused for a moment and stepped closer.

"Did you hear me?" She smiled.

"Mmhmm..." was all I could get out. And nodded.

"So...?"

I took a step closer closing the distance between us then wrapped my arms around her waist pulling her in to me. I slowly moved my hand to her head running my fingers into her dark hair pausing. She didn't move, she smiled slightly and we took each others faces in for just a few breathes. I finally moved in and kissed those soft lips. Each kiss drawing us closer. Each one deeper, full of desire.

Every ounce of my being was radiating happiness, basking in her everything. Her taste, her smell, her arms around my neck. She moved to take off my jacket as we continued. Taking each other in. She ran her fingers through my hair and I played mine along her back undoing the clothing I was sure was in the way. We moved slowly to lay in her bed. Then her hands moved to my back and played over every tattoo and every scar. All of her was intoxicating and incredible...

She was mine and I was hers.
