Hospital Hook Up

I was in and out all night. Every time I came to Caitlyn was there squeezing my hand or caressing my cheek gently with her hand cradling it. I was in a hospital bed but didn't know how I got there. I really fucked up this time. Everything ached and my head was killing me. The doctor came in giving me more meds in the IV hooked up to my left arm. It felt cool. Then I felt a bit of relief from the pain I was in. After a while I was feeling pretty good actually, a smile came over my face as I saw Caitlyn looking at me with concern.

"Why are you so sad Cupcake?" I kind of motioned with my hand but it just fiddled and twisted my fingers in the air and felt super funny. I laughed a little and flopped my arm back down onto the bed. Ow. Okay that hurt a little but everything seems lighter now, like I could float away. I kind of just looked up around the room. Caitlyn came close touching my face until I looked at her.

"Vi you're in pretty rough shape. Do you remember what happened?"

"Hmmm ... oh yeah I was hitting one of those chemlabs, and..."

"And?"

"Wow your eyes are so pretty!" I said and grinned. Was I thinking things or saying things? I didn't know I just ran my fingers up through her hair. "And your hair is nice..." I trailed off. Sleep seemed good right now, yup. I closed my eyes with a big cheesy grin.

"Vi, Vi stay awake." She shook my gently. Ouch. "Oh God you're high aren't you?" She looked me over again "Listen, can you tell me what happened? Ekko found you and brought you here in a hurry. It was touch and go for a while. You've lost a lot of blood..."

"Blood?! Oh no!..." I couldn't concentrate very well. "Hmmm ouch my side hurts."

"Yes you've been shot... you've been out of surgery for a little while." She grabbed my hand tight again. "Vi what happened?!" "I'm so glad Ekko found you, or maybe–"

"I'm glad you – found me too!" I half slurred, half yelled out. And bopped her nose with my finger. She blinked at me... puzzled, a little red graced her cheeks. "Oh, oh yeah the chemlab, one of Sevika's holdouts. She wasn't there though. Well not at first..."

"Did Sevika do this?"

"No no, I fought her off. But then that blue devil sister of mine showed up... you know the one..." I thought she was really a devil, but she was my sister, but she hurt Caitlyn and killed her mom, nope she was a devil. Thinking all this had my face changing multiple times... Wow am I floating? Heh what's that out the window? Am I floating out the window?

"Vi, focus. Did Jinx shoot you?" She grabbed my face again.

"Oh yeah that's her name... um yeah I guess, I don't really remember."

"Ugh, ok. We haven't seen her in a while but it makes sense she tracked you there. Why did you go by yourself?! God I was so worried." She squeezed my hand.

"Shhhh" I placed my finger on her lips. "I'm okay Cupcake. Will you just cuddle me? It would make me feel so much better."

Her face turned a new shade of red. I almost laughed but just smiled instead.

"Oh my..." she started touching her own cheek.

"Pleeeeaasee?"

"Violet. Well. I– I don't think the bed is big enough..." she sort of whispered, patting my hand.

"Oh, yeah this isn't nearly as big as your bed..." I nodded. How loud was I talking?

A nurse walked in when I said that, she chuckled a little under her breath. Scribbled something on her notepad then made a quick exit. Caitlyn just glanced over then back to me. Her eyes now a bit wide.

"Vi maybe you should just rest." She patted me on the shoulder.

"Hmm yeah, but I want you to stay with me."

"I'm not going anywhere."

"Hmm okay okay... hey can you get me another pillow?" I couldn't hardly move, everything hurt when I did.

"Sure just a second." She looked around and brought one over, grabbing my head gently to place the pillow behind me.

Her chest was right in my face now, I just starred and blinked. "Is this real life?" I asked. I could feel the blood rushing to my face and my heart was seriously racing. Maybe I was more hurt than I thought.

She stood back and shook her head with a little laugh. "Yes Vi I'm real." She bent over and placed a kiss on my forehead sweeping my hair out of the way. That was one of the only places that didn't hurt.

"Mmm that's nice, can you do that again?" I asked.

"Like this?" She kissed my head, then my cheek this time.

I grinned as a little goosebump feeling spread up to my face and to the top of my head. This was new, we had never done this. At least I didn't think we had. Had we? Hmm, it didn't matter... "Oh yeah, that's good. Thank–"

She grabbed my lips with hers. Her hands on each side of my face. Gently holding me still. My mind started bursting in dazzling colors. I felt every bit of pain fade away. Was this real? It sure felt real.

One long kiss then she pulled back to look at me. I just sort of froze with my eyes still closed, not wanting to see if I had imagined that. She ran her hand slowly through my hair again. A thousand bursts of electricity shot down my spine in an instant. I mean I had dreamt of this. Maybe I was just dreaming again. I opened one eye slowly and then the other to see her still there.

"Wow." I let out with a big breath. We exchanged grins and she went to close the room door. Her heels tapping lightly along the floor.

"Maybe I can find some room on this bed after all." She grinned gingerly, setting herself beside me. She brought her arm around resting her head on my shoulder.

"Is this ok?" She asked softly.

"Yeah... mhmm... perfect."

I closed my eyes and drifted back to sleep with the biggest smile on my face, and the most beautiful woman ever laying beside me.
