All five of my brothers followed me up and into my room. Everyone was quiet after dinner and the during the whole car ride home. I set my handbag down softly on my desk before looking into the mirror. Alessandro and Dante sat down on my couch, both saying absolutely nothing. Mateo sat down on my bed, Damien leaned back against the wall. The last I looked at was Diego, absolutely anger filled his eyes. " Diego," I said softly. Diego ran his hands through his hair before saying, " he didn't even say anything to you." I sighed before turning around, " Diego it's fine." " Don't," Diego said sternly.
I froze as Diego glared at me, his anger burning as he breathed heavily. " Who the fuck does this man think he is?" Diego scoffed. He looked at all my brothers? Who obviously were upset as well. " He's feared by all of Italy, of her cocky," Damien said. I looked at him, Damien glanced at me before averting his attention down to the floor. " He misses dinner that we got ready for, waltzes in like he owns the place, barely even looks at you," Diego spat out as he turned and looked at me. I was tired, it was late, and the moon hung high in the sky. Diego shook his head, " he's nothing but a low life and a piece of shit." " You know nothing about him," I said.
" And you do?" Diego asked looking at me. " You can't just declare that you know everything about him Diego," I simply said. Diego scoffed, " now what, you're defending him now?" I stared at Diego, not knowing what to say. " You know nothing about what he does Evangeline," Diego said. " He's right," Alessandro said softly. I looked at him, Alessandro looked at me, " his business is sky rocketing, he's wealthy ass hell and is cocky as shit." I scoffed, " dad and mom told us not to judge people just because they're a higher rank than us." " Higher rank, meaning they have more money and have bigger alliances," Damien said. " And this guy has both," Diego said in anger and annoyance.
I didn't know what to do, all five of my brothers were arguing against me. " All you do is protect people you don't even know," Diego said looking at me. My eyes slowly made their way up to his, " is defending people such a bad thing?" " Yes, actually," Mateo said. " A man who has nothing but power, money, basically all of Italy, alliances who are scared of him, and would kill anyone who gets in his way doesn't need any defending."
" Guys it's late," Mateo sighed. " And this, argument, is going nowhere. I folded my arms as Diego rubbed his jaw, without hesitation he turned and left the room. The door slamming shut vibrated about the room, making me flinch slightly. " He'll get over it," Alessandro said walking up behind me. I stared at the door as the rest of my brothers walked up to me. " You want us to stay here?" Damien asked. " No, I'm fine," I said softly. Dante scoffed, " you say that a lot." I inhaled deeply, beginning to feel a knot form in my throat. " You sure?" Dante asked. I nodded, " I'm just going to take a shower and head to bed." " Okay," Damien sighed.
One after one, my brothers said Goodnight before leaving my room. Still in my dress I wore to dinner and my heels, I slowly made my way into the bathroom. I hate this, fighting with Diego and all of my brothers. I soon found tears filing up in my eyes, a dull ache throbbed in my chest. Closing my eyes, I felt tears begin to trickle down my cheeks. Placing my hands on the sink counter, I lowered my head. Domenico and I were nothing alike, and I knew Diego wouldn't support him or I. I didn't want this, getting married, I had a life I had dreamt of and now it had been blown away within a second. I wasn't ready for marriage, to move on and away from my family, live with a complete stranger.
Standing in the shower, the event at dinner and fight I had with my brothers clogged my mind. Yes I was upset, yes I wanted to say something and defend myself but I knew that wasn't the right thing to do. Tilting my head back, I allowed the warm water to drown my face, numbing all the overworked muscles. The sweet smell of the vanilla bean body wash healed my senses, making me inhale deeply.
