I don't know why I'm making Luca and Evangeline's relationship so... heated, but I am lmao😭. I hope y'all are liking the book so far, I've been writing the last few chapters on my trip to California. Like I said before, I want y'all to be able to read the book without any of my comment. So, keep reading and enjoy the book!

Sitting at my desk, I brushed through my hair and took off my makeup as I prepared myself for a shower. Dinner didn't go as smoothly as I anticipated, but on the other hand I wasn't the least bit surprised. Right as I stood up and grabbed my robe, a knock sounded at my door. I looked at the clock, is was almost midnight. Walking up to the door, I had forgotten that I was only in a pair of short grey pajama shorts and a short white lace tank top. Opening the door , I was shocked to see Luca standing before me.
" Hi," I simply said. I glanced down the hall before stepping out of my room, closing the door behind me. Luca put his hands in his pockets before saying, " did I interrupt something?" " Uh no," I said folding my arms. " Did you need something?" Luca scoffed softly before saying, " at dinner what I did was inappropriate and childish, and I'm sorry." A smile crept its way across my face, Luca chuckled softly. " You're family now, so I guess I gotta treat you like one," Luca said. I couldn't help but smile, " I guess." Luca grinned, " you know, you'd know more about me if you spent time with me," I simply stated.
Luca sighed, " again, my apologies." I inhaled softly as Luca stared at me, saying nothing. " We'll, I'll let you get back to whatever you were doing," Luca said eyeing my bedroom door. He averted his eyes back to me, a smile I didn't invite crept its way onto my face. " Welcome to the family," Luca said holding out his hand. I held back a chuckle as I shook Luca's hand. Suddenly, a weird electrical feeling washed over me. Luca pulled me closer to him, making me inhale softly.
" Evangeline, your marrying into a very dangerous family," Luca reminded me. As I stared at him, the look in his eyes made it clear the he was being serious. " The people in this city will kill you without blinking an eye if they know you're with my family." My insides instantly tightened as Luca let go of my hand. " Knowing your background, be careful," Luca warned me. " Goodnight." With that, he turned and walked down the hall before disappearing around the corner. I sighed before turning and walking back into my room. Rome's twinkling city lights glowed up my dark room. Closing the curtains and giving up on showering, I turned off the lights before making my way to my bed.
With the slight alarming information Luca presented me with only a few minutes ago, I allowed my head to descend down onto the pillow before my eyes eventually fluttered closed.

The sweet smell of bakeries fluttered it way over to me. I slowly opened my eyes to find myself sitting at a table outside some restaurant. Beautiful jazz music played from a small band a few blocks away from me. Slightly frowning, I looked down to see myself in a beautiful baby blue sweet heart shaped dress. I looked back up, utterly confused on where I was and what was going on." I wasn't entirely sure if this place was suitable for the occasion," a deep voice said in front of me. Averting my attention, I inhaled deeply as I stared at a man sitting directly across from me. He wore a sleek, all black tuxedo, and a charcoal black tie. As my eyes looked up at his face, I was completely shocked. His face was blurry, as if someone had fogged it up. I tried squinting, there was no use. " Evangeline, you being in my life has got to be the greatest gift I've ever received," the man said. A cold shiver slipped up my spine, how did this man know my name?
" And I will do whatever it takes to keep you safe," the man said. I slightly clenched my jaw, his voice, it sounded so familiar, yet so foreign. Glancing around, people sat at tables eating, laughing, and drinking. I looked back down at my dress before looking at the now full plate of food in front of me. An unsettling feeling washed over me, where was I, and what was going on?
