Alatus/Xiao POV:

Ugh, why was this causing me so much trouble? Finding a demon surely shouldn't be this hard. It had to be an intelligent kind. I actually hadn't encountered an intelligent demon for a long period of time. Back in ancient Liyue almost all the demons were intelligent and a lot tougher than the modern demons. Maybe this one was a descendant of the ones from ancient Liyue? Verr Goldet did say that it took on a human-like figure so it has to be some kind of high ranking demon right?

I had been searching for this demon for days and I've only accomplished catching glimpses of features like it's clothes and hair. I've never seen it's face, if it even had one, some demons take the shape a living human they see, they can duplicate even the finest details of the human body and their clothes but one thing they cannot duplicate is the fascial features of a person but I have not encountered one in a long time.

This demon I have been tracking down is, I daresay, almost as smart as me. It thinks fast and steps carefully. Somehow, it can always sense my presence and immediately goes into hiding. Not to mention, it's extremely good at hiding but I know better than to search for it while it is hiding. When someone is hiding they have the benefit of surprise since the one searching has no idea where they could be. So every time it hides I either wait or just give up and walk away. 

But no matter what, I will get my hands on this demon.

It has been a week. I'm out of leads and I don't know where to go or where to search. I have to admit though, I haven't had this much of a challenge in hundreds of years. Maybe this was a good chance to finally get a bit of a workout. 

I decided that I would go ask Verr Goldet if she had heard anything new about this monster.

"Apologies but I have to ask again if you have heard anything new about this 'potential demon'?" I asked

"Well yes. There have been going some rumors around. You see, the townsfolk are terrified of this... whatever it is, and have been going around and telling stories. There might be some truth to the stories but not much. Would you be interested in hearing them?"

"Yes. Tell me."

"As you wish. So one of the rumors is that this demon has a scary mask and even trough the mask it's glare is like freezing ice daggers."

"Wait, wait. The demon has a mask?"

"Supposedly. At least that's what the rumor claims." she answered

"Anyway the second rumor describes the demon as being tall and extremely strong, and on top of all that the rumor also claims that the demon has visible icy-cold breath. Scary huh?" she giggled

"The demon has visible breath... like when it's cold and snowing?"

"I guess so, that's what the rumor said. The third rumor, my personal favorite, is that the demon bares a vision." 

I widened my eyes. What!? A demon with a vision? That's outrageous!

"Yeah, I know what you're thinking, I don't believe it either but hey, we don't have to. It's only rumor, the townsfolk probably just made it to rile people up," she tried to reason

"You're right. We shouldn't believe everything we hear." I sighed

What exactly was this demon? Where was it? And most importantly, were these rumors true?

I had searched, tracked, asked and looked but I still haven't found the demon. The last two days it has been like it disappeared without a trace. Like it went undercover or just flat out gave up and ran away. If I don't see or get any news from this demon the next 2-3 days I will move on with my duty because I simply cannot waste anymore time on a potentially fruitless mission. 

I guess now it's time for the waiting game..
