Alatus/Xiao POV:
I had said my goodbyes.. so why did I still feel like I was unfulfilled, like my life was unfinished, like I still had something to do?
What was it?
I had been alive for so many years and yet I haven't even done the things I wanted to do?
What was missing?

The cracks in the platform grew bigger. At least [Y/N] made it out safe.
I hope they forget me.
I did nothing good in their life. If they forgot me they could live their life out normally. Without guilt, without worry.
I wish them well.
I could feel the platform under me shaking. I didn't even need to look down to know that it was going to break. I looked up.
"..I guess our bond wasn't strong enough.." I whispered to myself.
I couldn't say more before the ground under me disappeared. I fell.
Far.
Far.
Far, down.
This was it.
The end.
So many thought ran through my head. I couldn't bear the weight of it all. I'm too weak.
I put a weak smile on my face and closed my eyes. In the honor of [Y/N] I wanted to smile in my last moments.

Warmth. I felt warmth. Where was it coming from?
I carefully opened my eyes again. What I saw was beautiful. Golden streaks of light reaching out for me. Was this a dream? Or was I dying?
The golden light reached me, I felt.. safe. The shimmer of the light almost blinded me but I couldn't look away. I was too mesmerized by it.
I accepted it. Is this what the mortals call fate?
I closed my eyes again.

.When I opened them I realized what had happened before.
I was.. alive. Outside.
I looked around. I was on the surface. I saw the Chasm below me. I saw something else too.
It was them. [Y/N]. I approached them but paused when I saw what state they were in.
They were hugging their legs tight against their body. But what I saw was nothing compared to what I heard. It was heartbreaking. I heard heavy breathing and uncontrollable tears.
Where they crying? Over me?
I reached out to them and touched their shoulder. The crying stopped.
"Who are you..? Leave me be." Their voice cracked.
"[Y/N].."
Their posture stiffened.
They turned their head. Their eyes were wide and tear-filled.
"I thought you.. how are you- I don't-... what?"
They were obviously confused. So it wasn't them who saved me. I looked around. I then looked up and saw golden-brown locks heading away. So it was him. I should have known.
I looked back at [A/N]. I wiped their tears away with my hand.
"Why are you crying?"
I rested my hand on their cheek, they put their hand on top of mine, closed their eyes and leaned into the touch.
