Your POV:

Should I call for Xiao or explore alone?

.

I'm not quite sure. On one hand I could fend for myself plus if it was nothing I would be wasting his time. On the other hand we had said that we would contact each other if we found something.

...

I decided to keep my word and call him here. I didn't want to break his trust.

"Alatus." that was all I had to say to make him appear in front of me.

"You called?"

"I think I found something.." I gestured towards the tunnel. He looked at it for a moment and then said:

"What are we waiting for then?"

We entered the cold and eerie place. The air in there was almost suffocating, it was so thick and dense, it was a cave after all. It was quite uncomfortable being in there for too long but if it meant getting out of here, it's worth the effort.

I stole a glance at Alatus. I could again feel my thirst for blood heightening. I quickly looked away and covered my mouth as to not accidentally expose my fangs to him.

Concentrate.

We went deeper into the cave, I had luckily remembered the way back so we wouldn't get lost. As we kept on walking I noticed a blue shimmer coming from one of the smaller tunnels.

"Look." I said tapping Xiao's shoulder and pointing to the shine. He nodded and proceeded walking towards it. I followed along.

The tunnel was pretty tight and there wasn't much space for me. Xiao on the other hand didn't seem to have many struggles.

When we got out on the other side we found ourselves in front of another portal. How many were there? The portal was identical to the previous ones. I'm assumed that it lead to another domain.

Me and Alatus both shared a look of 'should we go through it?'. If I'm being honest I didn't know. Well, then again we didn't have much of an option. There wasn't much else to do.

I walked closer. I couldn't really put my finger on it but I sensed a dark energy coming from that portal. I didn't like it. I looked at Xiao again. He thoughtfully crossed his arms and looked down. After a few moments of silence he met my gaze again but rushed his eyes away from mine. I was confused. Did he not like me?

"Let's just enter, we don't have any other option." he said a little unsure of himself. I nodded and stuck my hand trough the portal first. It felt cold, I tuned my hand from left to right in an attempt to see if the feeling would change. It didn't. I sighed and walked entirely through the portal.

I ended up in an odd looking place. I looked around and saw old machines and other equipment for mining. The sky was a sweet yellow color and the air here was much more breathable but everything here just seemed dead. There was no form of life here. Anywhere.

Alatus had entered and ended up beside me. He looked judgingly around the place too. I could tell that he didn't like being here.

I walked down and saw some kind of clock. It looked familiar somehow. I was pretty sure I had seen it before but where? Xiao came over to look at the clock too. I saw his expression light up a bit.

"Do you recognize this?" I asked.

"..Yes.. but I don't know how."

"I feel the same way. This.. clock must have been a part of our lives at some point but we couldn't have known it for long, otherwise we would know what it is by now."

"..Maybe we should try activating it? It seems to be the only working thing in this place."

"Maybe. But be careful, if you don't remember, the Chasm does use memories against the victim."

"Wait. We're in the Chasm?"

"You didn't know..?"

"No. I was knocked out cold and transported here by someone."

"..So that other person I scented was your kidnapper..?"

"What are you talking about?"

"Nothing.. let's just activate the machine."

He looked at me with clear suspicion but then turned his attention towards the mechanism. He turned the hands of the odd item one hour forward. In my peripheral vision I saw a portal activate. I turned my attention to it.

Xiao had noticed it too. We walked closer. Again, I carefully put my hand trough but I felt nothing. No wind, no warmth, no coldness, nothing. I looked confused at the portal for a second before slowly walking trough. I ended up in a weird place. It looked like I was in between two realms. I think that was the right answer. Right now I was floating in between two realms.

Xiao stepped out of the portal and was just as confused with this place as I was. We decided not to question it too much and just walk to the other side.

When we reached the other side, there was another portal identical to the first one we just walked trough. I assumed that this portal lead to the other realm. This time I didn't bother testing the portal by sticking my hand though. I just entered normally without any formalities.

I ended up in another realm but it looked almost the same as the first one, this one just looked.. newer? The sky had another color too. I saw the clock again. I began to walk down to it but was stopped by someone grabbing my wrist. I looked behind me and saw that it was a hand coming trough the portal. That meant that it was most likely Xiao, it was definitely Xiao because of the gloves the hand was wearing. As I had suspected he walked trough the portal.

"Don't leave without me." he said and frowned.

How cute.
