A few days before the incident with Chrissy Cunningham, Eddie was in the school canteen he was sitting in his usual spot, only Mike and Dustin were the only ones at the table. "So you are telling me, that you two dweebs have girls?" He asked, Horror shown on his face had to face the truth. He was alone.

"Yeah, but they don't live near here," Mike said waving his hands about trying to explain his and his friends' situation.

"Are they real? Because if not I won't humiliate you." Eddie offered whispering so that he wouldn't embarrass the two young teens about their imaginary girlfriends.

"Well, Susie and el-Jane are real. I'm going over to visit Jane soon enough." Mike smiled to himself thinking about the girl, trying not to think too much about his old mate Will.

Y/n walked into the canteen holding a tray with her food on it bringing it off to a side table away from the large cliques of people, unaware of Eddie's eyes following her across the room.

"How did you both do it?" He asked not taking his eyes off the beautiful woman.

"I don't know...He met Jane because she was lost and that's how they all bonded. I met Suzie while at Camp Know so then since she lived so far away I made a better radio tower to communicate with people at a farther distance and-"

"Okay, that's enough Dustin." Eddie interrupted holding his hands up creating a 'T'. "Take a time out"

"Why do you ask?"Dustin asked as Mike and he began to tuck into his food watching Eddie keenly.

"Are you having lady issues?" Mike asked quietly not wanting to make a fool of himself.

"I doubt Eddie out of all people in hellfire has lady issues." Dustin defended giving Mike a glare causing Eddie to smile softly at the boy

"Your comrade may have slight truth to what he is saying," Eddie confessed in a posh old English like accent mimicking something he imagined to be from the Lord of the rings books or the hobbit.

"Who is the lucky girl?" Dustin was about to explode. He was never one for indulging in conversation about romantic feelings but this was Eddie. This was the first time he had any indicator the man harboured these sorts of feelings.

"She hasn't officially met me yet but we have spoken, I'm simply admiring from afar." He laughed still looking at the beautiful woman. Dustin turned to see where Eddie was looking. "Oh. Her?"

Eddie turned his eye line to shoot a glare at Dustin, "Is there something wrong with that?"

He shook his head keenly as Eddie released a breath he didn't realise he was holding in. "Do you know anything about her?" Eddie inquired looking at the two boys intently.

"I don't even know her name! She is new though. She hasn't made a big name for herself yet." Dustin said watching in disgust as Mike was wolfing down his food as if he hadn't been fed in a week.

"Her name is Y/n L/n. She is in some of my classes." He said practically glowing thinking about their few brief interactions.

"I wasn't expecting you to have an interest in someone like her," Mike said glancing behind him at the girl eating peacefully every so often glancing around at the groups at the separate tables.

"What's that meant to mean Wheeler?"

"I think what our friend meant to say is that we are a bit shocked to hear that you finally have your eye on someone who isn't a D&D player."

"We don't know that plus. She is a girl I know nothing else about." He knew that lying wasn't the most polite thing to do to friends who trusted him but he didn't want to come off as too creepy especially when the girl was in the same room as them.
