*short one again, sorry*

Have you ever had an out of body experience walking towards your date? Well me neither, not until now. Walking towards Fitzwilliam at the entrance of 10 pin bowling, felt wrong. Do you think he'll notice if I run away from him? I was so nervous for this date, I just couldn't imagine myself going. But here I was. I really hoped the girls listened to me and had their phone on loud, because I'm pretty sure I will be needing an escape route.

I was about three steps away from him so it was time to face the music.

"Elza! I'm so glad you're here. I thought for a second you weren't going to show." He laughed.

"Why would you think that? I'm here on time, in fact I'm two minutes early if you want to get specific." I said confused.

Well this is off to a great start.

"Anyway. I was thinking we could go to the food courts first, so I hope you haven't eaten yet."

"No, that sounds good." I nodded.

Maybe this date would turn out okay. I love food courts and I'm glad we're doing something fun, not like a fancy dinner. 1. I wasn't dressed for the occasion and 2. not my scene.

"What do you fancy eating?" William broke me from my thoughts.

"Urm you choose."

"Okay not picky I like it" He winked. "Let's go to the chicken place, I've heard they do amazing salads for you and amazing chicken burgers for me."

Okay so he's a misogynist, brilliant. I most definitely wouldn't be having a salad. I don't even like them!

"Sit down, I'll go order for you. You can pay me back later." William offered.

"No really, it's okay. I can order for myself." I argued.

His eye twitched and he looked sort of mad. I ordered myself a double chicken burger, hoping to really bother Fitzwilliam.

Whilst we waited for our food we both sat at a booth.

"So tell me about yourself." He started, using the cliched date line.

"Well, it's just me and my dad, he lives about three hours out of town" I said, starting off easy. "What about you?"

"I have three sisters and my mom and dad own a dentists. I was always the top of my classes and super good at sports. Everyone used to be jealous of me, because I'm not going to lie I had the nicest clothes and the nicest hair. There was always competition between me and the other guys in high school, because all the females loved me." He boasted.

I gave him a small smile in response.

How did I not notice how insufferable he was? I swear he wasn't like this at the carnival. I don't think I was that drunk that I forgot his whole personality.

"I also got a few scholarships for other colleges, but ultimately I decided to come here. Family legacy and all" He continued.

Thankfully I was saved from the server calling out our order numbers. This time I did let him go and collect them alone, I didn't want to move from my seat.

The first thing he said when he came back was about my double chicken burger.

"I told you they do really good salads here" He smiled, but it was so obviously forced.

"Not a fan of salads." Is my reply.

His eye twitched again. "What?" He questioned.

"Yeah?"

"How could you not like salads? That's what females are supposed to eat on dates." I didn't reply.

We didn't talk for the rest of our time in the booth and his attitude had put me off my meal so I didn't eat it, even if I was hungry.

Then to make matters worse, Kyle came and said hello.

"Elza, I told you I'd be seeing you soon" He smirked.

I never thought I'd be sort of glad to see Kyle, but he serves as a good distraction.

"Yep, you sure did" I said dryly.

"I see you've found yourself better company" He retorted.

Whatever I was saying about being glad to see Kyle, ignore that. I couldn't wait to get rid of him.

"Kyle" I gritted through my teeth "we're sort of in the middle of something." I pointed at William.

"Oh! I'm sorry are you two on a date?" He taunted.

"Go away Kyle."

He holds his hands up, "okay I'm gone."

He swaggered off to a crowded table, I recognised some of them as the ones the guys got into a fight with.

"He's a bit of a prick isn't he" William laughed.

I smiled, that was the only thing we could agree on it seemed.

"I am curious" He started "why do you always wear those dresses?"

I'm about to smile, thinking he's going to compliment them.

"They're like super ugly."

"Oh" I said surprised.

I can't believe that he just insulted the girl he's supposed to be on a date with.

"Sorry that was too strong of a word. What I meant is that they don't highlight your figure." He clarified, not that it made me feel any better.

"Maybe because I like them? Ever thought of that?" I sassed. "Are you done yet?"

"Yeah, let's go." He looked a bit offended at my attitude, but I didn't care. He deserved it.

The whole walk over to 10 pin bowling, I kept replaying what William said in my head about my dresses, it was taking me back to a dark time. I couldn't help but think of Lars in this moment, he said he liked them.

"Earth to Elza" William waved a hand in front of my face. "We're here."

"Let's go get our shoes" I walked towards the desk, not giving him time to catch up to me.

"Size 7 please." I said to the lady working there.

Once she had given the shoes to me, I once again walked off, leaving William behind.

"You walk so fast!" He laughed but there was humour behind it.

"Sorry I wanted to find a good lane." I shrugged.

He didn't reply. He walked past me and put our names in, preparing to play.

"Okay I hope you know how to play" He joked. I think.

"Watch and learn" I tried to lighten the mood.

He chuckled.

After the first round I was beginning to grow bored. The only good thing about this night was the fact that I had won, which William was not pleased about.

"Shall we go play some games at the arcade? We can come do another round of bowling afterwards" I practically begged.

"Are you kidding?" He asked seriously "Absolutely not. I'd rather pull my toenails off with a pair of pliers than go to the arcade." He sneered. "Plus I can't let a female beat me at something, no offence." He ran off to go and start another round.

I was about to text the girls to come and save me, when I suddenly heard a very familiar voice. After all, it was the one that haunts my dreams.

"Sunshine." It growled out.
