"Is this Elza Hart?" A woman spoke.
"This is she," I answered.
"I'm afraid inform that your dad has been admitted to the hospital."
Is what I heard down the line, but surely that can't be true. Can it? I just spoke to my dad! He's been taking his medication, so what could it be? I don't think I really wanted to know the answer to that.
The lady told me that he's ready to be seen whenever and that he's waiting for me, the doctors also had a few things they needed to talk to me about, which can't be good. I hung up the phone after telling her I'd be there as soon as I could.
I managed to keep my composure for the duration of the phone call, but once it ended I broke down.
I think the fact I still had alcohol running through my system definitely didn't help.
Tears were running down my face whilst the group were looking at me with concern. I tried to suck my tears back up so I could get my stuff and leave from this cursed party.
"Elza? Elza what's wrong?" Harley asked.
I was too focused on panicking and thinking about how I could possibly get home without a car, I paid no mind to her, or anyone for that matter.
I was rushing around the kitchen collecting my things and trying to actually get out.
But before I could leave someone grabbed my arm and spun me around.
"Elza please tell us what happened, we're all super worried." It was Anna.
I was sniffling and hiccupping when I was explaining to them that my dad was in the hospital.
"I need to get back home right away, but I'm gonna have to take the bus tomorrow. Will someone take me back to my dorm right now?" I sniffled.
Harley and Anna nodded, getting their stuff ready to leave.
However before we could once again I was stopped. This time it was Lars signaling me to follow him outside.
I sighed and trailed behind him, waving Harley and Anna off saying I'd meet them at the car in a minute.
I stood in front of him, nervous for what he was going to say.
"Look Lars I can't do this right now." I started.
"Elza that's not important right now." He'd never spoken so softly. "I'll get you home now if you'd like." He said shyly.
"I couldn't ask you to do that for me." I shook my head.
"You aren't asking, I'm telling you and I'm not taking no for answer." He said sternly. "God I hate seeing you upset." I don't think he intended for me to hear that.
I knew I wasn't in the position to say no to him. What other option did I have? Taking the bus wasn't realistic. It would end up taking me two days to get home via bus. Which meant I would've had to stay in a motel. All of this doesn't come without a cost and it's money I don't have.
"Thank you." I accepted.
He nodded and went back into the house. I followed after.
We told the boys what was going to happen and they all hugged me and wished for the best.
We made our way to his car but not before I went to tell Anna and Harley the new plan.
"It's for the best." I finished.
