Amity's pov
I ended up looking up on Googleplex what it meant when a girl looks you up and down. It said multiple things like them trying to size you up to see if they can fight you or they see you as attractive. Which when I read it made me end up kicking my legs on my bed as I screamed in the pillow not hearing the knock at my door.

My siblings ended up walking in while I was having my "meltdown." I don't know what else to call it. "Hey mittens dad wants to know if you could help him with the car it's acting up again a-" they must have noticed my red face "What's gotten you all red?" My sister Emira asked, placing all her weight on one foot and hand on her hip. My brother being a copycat and doing the same "Tell dad I'll be out in a minute and leave me alone".

They both shrugged as I made my way downstairs. Seeing Eda with oil all over her face and someone else underneath the car with a little boy handing them tools "Hey Eda I didn't know Raine knew how to work on cars" which made Raine bump their head on the car hearing a groan, I realized it didn't sound like them "Well if it isn't Mrs. Goody two shoes"

Eda said making me cross my arms "I thought we agreed on no nicknames" I said, not expecting to see Luz as she came from under the car "ah my head" Eda went to her aid "I told you to be careful, but you insisted you knew what you where doing miss mechanic" Eda said as she pushed Luz's hair off her face looking at the now new forming bump on her head making the little boy get worried.

Luz sighed " I know what I'm doing eda" pushing her hands away from her face going back to the car but not before he placed a bandaid on her head he received a pat on the head and a thank you 'Shes good with kids' I thought in my head as my dad came out with yet another cup of coffee making me sigh "Dad you're going to end up turning into a coffee monster drinking it all the time" he smiled ruffling up my hair "I know mittens but it's so addicting"

I laughed but suddenly I felt eyes on me and looked over to see Luz staring at me an odd look in her eyes, I couldn't quite put my finger on it but it looked all too familiar "Hey Luz why don't we head home I think you've done enough work so far Amity and her d- Alador can finish if it needs it" I looked over at Eda who had her arm around Luz holding her in a tight hold as she just silently nodded her head taking Alberts hand in hers

What was that about?

My dad ended up walking behind me and patted my head "I never knew Edalyn had a kid," I sighed "Dad they have a son she's just taking care of Luz for the time being though or that's what I heard," he nodded taking a sip of his coffee "She's a good kid got that resting mean mugging face but good kid," I smiled "So what's wrong with the car?" He shrugged. "Apparently something with the oil you're old man hasn't been able to change it in a while and she recommended we use some different type.,"

Not gonna lie, I found it kind of hot that she worked on cars, not hearing what my dad was saying. He ended up snapping his fingers in my face. "Hm-yeah what?" He chuckled. "Daydreaming are we? As I was saying maybe you could ask Luz to hang out with you Edalyn said she's been having a rough few days making friends,"

I looked at him like he has two heads "Ya lost me," he sighed "come on Amity it would do you some good to get to know the kid," I cut him off "No not that I mean that she's having trouble making friends of course she's having trouble because she's got this 'I don't need people' attitude," before I could say anything else to me and my father's conversation was interrupted "why do I need more when you're there?" I turned my head to find none other than Luz. My dad smirked and walked off.

Luz looked over at the car. "Have you tried to start it?" I brushed it off. "I'm sure it will start, anyway. What brings you back here?" I said in a rush knowing I was blushing

She grabbed a hat, it was rather too small then I seen Albert pop his head out from behind her as he took it and smiled "He forgot his hat" I nodded crouching down "Hi I'm Amity" I said extending my hand he got more behind Luz before she patted his back "Al it's okay she won't bite" he gave her that "oh really I couldn't have guessed" looks before he took my hand shaking it "You're quite the gentleman" he nodded smiling some as he pointed at my hair "You like my hair?"

He nodded, taking out a piece of paper. "Luz reads me story's and one character has green hair. " I looked up at Luz seeing her looking away "Not so bad after all, are you? Just a sweet heart" this made her laugh "I don't think you have any clue who you're talking to blight" the way she said my last name made chills run down my spine but she soon was already leaving "hey Luz?"

She picked Albert up he lay his head on her shoulder "W-would you like to hang out with me and my friends this weekend?" She looked surprised. "Oh, you're serious?" I watched as Albert looked from me to Luz. He started kicking his legs some, making Luz put him down, then running to me, taking my hand.

Luz pov
I found it strange that Amity asked me to hang out with her but was even more weird is when Albert wanted to get down to go to her it took me a few days for him to even let me hold him let alone hold his hand. "He seems to be very fond of you"

She smiled "Yeah I often babysit Boscha's little brother but he's nowhere near as mannered as Albert" I smiled looking at the time "Come on buddy, Eda said to have you home by 6 and it's already 5:50 so we need to get a move on" it made me laugh when he pulled Amity along "Oh no, she can't come with us this is her house so she needs to stay here"

This made him pout which just made us both laugh "If I promise to come see you when I get Luz, will that make you happy?" It made me happy to see his eyes light up and have such trust in someone he barely met "Welp come on bud she said she will come see us this made him smile and walk to me taking my hand and pulling it so we could get home soon I looked back and waved at Amity seeing her smile with a tint of pink on her cheeks

I hope she's not catching a cold..
