"Velvet, do you know what caused me to lose my memories?" I asked my friend as she was cooking salmon curry. I had regained most of them, but not all of them. "I'm trying to remember, but I can't seem to-"
Velvet stopped stirring, tapping the tablespoon against the rim of the small pot. Placing the spoon to the side, she wiped her hands on the dish towel on her shoulder.
The two of us were in America on... vacation. So Velvet's dad decided to take us to Hell's Kitchen. The season was on-going, so we were suppose to keep out of sight when the filming is happening. Right now, the teams are talking about tonight's elimination, not minding the two of us in the blue kitchen.
"You were hit by a car." She told me, placing the top on the pot. The steam could be seen building up on the glass surface. "Luckily, the driver wasn't going fast, but it was fast enough to take you off your feet. I believe you instinctively cushion your head when you were hit, preventing any brain damage, but the physical trauma was enough to give you amnesia. Either that, or it was the mental trauma." She muttered the last part. It was low, but I heard it well.
"Mental trauma?" My breath hitched.
Flashback
"Hey, dad!" I burst into his bedroom, stopping in my tracks. I caught him and Luna in a very compromising and revealing position. Turning away, I blushed furiously. Well, this is awkward.
I looked to face them again, swallowing. "I'll just co-" A stinging slap was felt causing my head to snap to the side again. Luna was seething, blanket draped around her body to cover her nakedness. "What was that for?!"
She yanked me by my hair. "Haven't you heard of knocking?!"
"Ah! Dad!" I cried out as she slapped me again. Clearly he isn't going to help.
She pushed me back, making me fall hard on the ground, hitting my head hard against the hard wood flooring. I think my head made a loud noise because as soon as that happened, dad threw off the remaining covers, trying to put his clothes on. I felt disoriented, dizzy, nauseous.
Sitting up, I felt the back of my head. I feel blood, but it wasn't that much. "Oh, fuck, Quantum, are you okay?" Dad asked, helping me sit up.
"Just a bit dizzy. I think I have a concussion." I cursed. "What the hell was that for Luna?"
"She's not the one at fault here." Dad said.
I gaped at him. That woman just assaulted me for walking in on you two having sex. Pushing him away from me, I stood up. "I don't think walking in on you guys gave her the permission to assault me."
"God, why do you always do this? Can't you just agree with me for once?" Dad looked pissed. "Had I known it was going to be like this, I wouldn't have considered adopting you!"
"Fuck. You." I managed to say before running out.
Present Day
I growled, feeling the glass I was holding break. Velvet sighed, shaking her head. "Honestly," she took my hand, calling for a medic, "you have the most obvious look when you remember something." She paused, giving me a questioning look "You remember it then." A statement, not a question.
"All of it." I responded. "Do you think you can get me some dirt on Luna?"
"Planning to ruin their relationship? That's not like you."
"No, I just have a bad feeling about her."
