The girl behind Luna shot her in the leg, making the woman scream and crumble to the ground. The gun skidded away from her. "AH! What- what're you doing?! You can't just shoot your boss!"
"On the contrary," Velvet spoke, removing the handkerchief covering the lower part of her face, "I don't work for anyone."
"Oh, thank the friggin' Lord, I was right!" I exhaled in relief, clutching my chest. "I thought I was gonna get shot for a second." Velvet smirked at that. I'm pretty sure she wouldn't have let me get shot... Would she? Now that I think about it, she probably would've let me get shot for the sake of not blowing her cover.
Before I could question her about that, the door suddenly burst open and detectives and police officers alike swarmed the room. "Thank you for your assistance, gentlemen, you can handle the rest from here." Velvet told them, handcuffing Luna.
While that was happening, I untied dad from his chair. His wrist looked pretty torn up, he must have been rubbing it against the rope. Trying to escape, perhaps. "Dad, are you alright? She didn't do anything, did she?"
Dad shook his head. "No, no, I'm fine! How- how about you? Are you hurt in any way?"
"A few bruises here and there. A cut on my thigh that my need some stitching, but other than that, I am totally fine." I smiled. "Next time, I'm running a full-on background check on the women you date, because I don't want this happening again."
Velvet laughed, arms crossed. "By 'I'm' you mean me."
"Or Reinz. He can do it too, just with illegal methods." That statement earned me a couple odd looks and glares.
"Yeah, well, my methods are more legal." Velvet was tapped on the shoulder by a man that is at least twice her size. "Oh, Varric, right." She handed him a slip of paper. "Thank you for the information. I hope your men wasn't too injured by my friend here."
"Nothing we can't handle." The man replied, and then he left.
"Was that-"
"A mercenary, yes. His boss was the one who informed me of Luna's little deal and gave me the location of your whereabouts." She sighed. "In return, $500,000."
"$500,000?" Dad nearly exclaimed. "Just for that bit of information."
"And to cover the cost of medical expenses. Don't worry, I have the money." Velvet assured him. "Besides, it would've taken longer than a day to retrieve you if I did not have their help."
A/N: So my dad came back, majorly pissed at my mom. Hey, I would be too after what she did. My mom was so hysterical that she called everyone one of our family friends telling them things that should've been kept between her and my dad. My brother and I were so fed up with it that we actually left the house for a couple hours, but I needed to get it all out, so this was my best option. Yeah for animosity on the internet! Also, I got the name Varric from Dragon Age. Best dwarf ever. Oghren comes in at second best.
