I woke up to a knock on the door to the room I'm sleeping in.

"Come in" I mumbled. It was still dark outside, Auston came in and was wearing workout attire.

"I have to go to practice but I changed C and fed him a bottle. He's back asleep, so you should be able to sleep in for another hour or two" he told me.

"Okay" I replied. I'm not gonna be able to go back to sleep because he woke me up.

I sat up and rolled out of bed and hit the floor. I groaned and stood up. I stretched before grabbing my phone and walking out of the room.

I guess I'm gonna take a shower and relax before Caleb wakes up.

Auston's POV

-

I just got to practice, we're in the workout room, conditioning. I'm here a little later than I usually do because I took care of Caleb before leaving.

I kind of feel bad that I'm the reason that Sadie's life is falling apart but at the same time, she did this to herself. If she didn't cheat on William, she wouldn't be in this situation. If she didn't cheat on William, my perfect little boy wouldn't exist.

"You're late, Matthews" Coach Keefe told me as I walked over to a piece of workout equipment.

"Sorry, coach. Something came up last night and I had to take my son for the night and I had to take care of him before coming to practice. It won't happen again" I replied.

"Don't let it happen again. Next time, there will he consequences" he stated. I nodded as I began to get to work.

Mitch walked over to me.

"You good, dude? You're usually not late" he asked.

"Yeah, I'm good. Sadie got kicked out of her brother's house last night and needed somewhere for Caleb to sleep" I told him.

"Oh shit. That must be why she was blowing Steph up last night" he replied.

"I guess." I shrugged as Willy approached us. I refrained from rolling my eyes.

"Who has Caleb?" Willy asked. Okay, I guess he was eavesdropping on mine and Mitch's conversation.

"His mom does. I let her stay with me" I replied.

"What? Are you two a thing now?" He asked. I groaned.

"No." I stated.

"So, you're only interested in women who are in committed relationships?" He asked.

"I'm not entertaining that question" I replied, putting down the barbell I was lifting up.

"You ruined the best thing I ever had in my life. The least you can do is answer the damn question" he shot back.

"If you fucking want her back, go get her back. Fuck. Nobody told you to breakup with her" I snapped.

"Why? So you can continue to fuck her behind my back?" He asked, stepping closer to me.

"Yeah, maybe if you did it right, she wouldn't have had to come to me to finish the job" I smirked, stepping closer to him.

"Guys, don't-" Mitch tried to intervene before Willy shoved me. I shoved him back.

"You wanna fucking go bro?" He spat. I nodded and we started hitting each other. Everything became a blur, I had him pinned to the floor and then Morgan and Mitch were trying to separate us.

Once we were separated, coach approached us and practically yanked us into his office.

"What the fuck was that?!" Coach shouted at us. We sat in silence, embarrassed that we got in trouble with our coach.

"Answer the damn question!" He demanded.

"He started it" we said in unison.

"I don't fucking care who started what. You two better not carry this out into the game. You two are gonna be staying behind and doing laps around the ice until I say stop. Matthews, you were already on thin ice for being late. One more stunt like this and you're being scratched from the next game. You got that?" He asked.

"Yes sir" I replied, timidly. I've never been in trouble with my coach- well since being in the NHL. I'm ashamed of myself.

"Whatever happened between you two, fix it. I'm not breaking up another fight. Now get out of my office" he told us. We nodded and walked out of the office.

We remained silent and went back to working out. He was clearly looking for issues by asking me about her. She doesn't want me and if he wants her so bad, he can have her. I don't know why he's making such a huge deal out of all of this.
