Today is Caleb's first birthday. Thankfully it fell on a day that everybody is free and I was able to plan Caleb's birthday party. I know I didn't need to do anything over the top because he won't remember it but I will and I want pictures to look back on.

Auston and I haven't really talked since I tried to kiss him. I don't know how else to fix us. I've fucked shit up beyond repair. Auston has only seen Caleb twice in the past two months and it hurts me.

I invited him to the party but who knows if he'll show up. There's not gonna be too many people at the party. I invited Steph and Mitch, my brothers, Auston and his family. Auston's sisters and dad won't be able to be there because of work and college but his mom said she's dropped everything to be able to be there.

I figured Caleb would enjoy seeing the one grandmother he has in his life.

Anyway, I just got finished setting up for Caleb's party. I got cupcakes, a smash cake for Caleb, fruit punch and waters to drink and pizzas to eat. I'm just waiting on people to show up. Kody helped me set up, Caleb is down for a nap until people start showing up.

"Do you wanna know what I go Caleb for his birthday?" Kody asked after taking a hit of helium from one of the balloons he blew up.

"Sure and stop wasting helium, you're killing your brain cells" I told him.

"I have to have brain cells to begin with to kill them" he replied, his high pitched voice wearing off.

"Yeah yeah" I rolled my eyes. He went to his room and back out with a mini drumset for kids.

"Oh good lord, Kody" I groaned as he set it by the gift table.

"I figured you would enjoy him making music" he laughed.

"Kody, you seem to forget that you're gonna have to listen to it too because you live here" I reminded him and that's when he finally came to that realization.

"Oops, if anything, it can go over to Corey's" he chuckled as the doorbell rang.

I walked over to the door and answered it. It was Auston's mom and she was holding a few gift bags.

"It's so nice to see you, Ema" I smiled as I let her in. Kody took the bags from her to put on the table. She gave me a hug after he took the bags.

"I've missed you, sweetie!" She told me.

"Do you wanna see the birthday boy?" I asked. She nodded and followed me to mine and Caleb's room. Caleb was already awake and was standing up in his crib.

"Oh my goodness! He's gotten so big!" Ema gushed as I took Caleb out of his crib.

"He took his first steps a couple of weeks ago" I told her.

"I wish I lived closer to see these moments with my own two eyes" she told me.

"I would love it if you lived closer" I replied as I changed C's diaper.

"Does Auston know you're here?" I asked.

"Not yet, I decided I would surprise him. I'm surprised he's not here helping you with the party" she replied.

"He hasn't really been active in Caleb's life in the past couple months. I don't even know if he's gonna show up" I told her.

"I am so sorry, Sadie. His father and I raised him better than this. I don't know why you're having to fight so hard to keep him in Caleb's life" she told me.

"It's not your fault. I just don't know where to go from here. I really don't wanna take him to court and force him to take care of Caleb if he doesn't want to and I don't want the court to force him to pay child support. I want him to want to be in his son's life" I explained.
