Getting Answers

"Ryan is gone because of us"

"What?" Kensi asked.

"She's not gone yet"

"She hasn't left yet?"

"No. Granger wanted you to go instead"

"What?" Kensi said as she stopped the car outside the boatshed.

"They want a trained sniper and it was either you or her. You ha-" Deeks was interrupted by Kensi.

"I have more experience but I have a family now. Ryan isn't as skilled and has nobody"

"Yeah"

"What did you say?"

"I told him that I wasn't going to let you go. I wasn't letting you leave again"

"What did Hetty say?"

"She agreed with me"

"So they wanted me instead of Ryan"

"Yeah"

"So I'm the reason why Ryan may never see her family again"

"Kens... Don't think of it like that. You went through it with Afghanistan and you could've gotten Killed"

"I know" She sighed.

"Now let's go and find out who wants us dead"

Kensi nodded her head and they got out of the car. They walked inside and saw Callen and Sam looking at the screen. On the screen was Jenny Summers and Malcom Days.

"You talk to them yet?"

"Nope" Sam said.

"Summers or Days?" Callen asked.

Kensi and Deeks looked at each other.

"Summers" They both said.

"Alright" Callen said.

Kensi and Deeks went into the interrogation room to talk to Summers and Callen and Sam talked to Days. Kensi and Deeks walked  into the room and Summers sighed. Kensi sat at the table in front of her and Deeks got a chair from the corner and sat beside Kensi.

"You don't look to happy to see us Ms Summers" Kens said.

"I want a lawyer"

"Oh come on. You were happy to talk to us yesterday and you told us that we could trust you" Deeks said.

"We know you were apart of the explosion "

"You should have all died" She said

"Why do you want us dead?"

"It's not me. It's my boss"

"Who's your boss?"

"I can't say"

"Tell us"

"No"

"You almost killed four federal agents and a four year old girl. Why?"

"Four federal agents and a four year old girl?"

"Yes. Us, two of our co-workers and Zoey"

"He said it was only going to be you two that would get hurt"

"You didn't know that Zoey was one of the targets?"

"No, I would never hurt a child"

"Zoey told us that yesterday morning, you told her that if she told anyone about the guy following us, you would hurt her"

"It was for her own safety. If he knew that you were on to him, he would kill you all"

"Well until you tell us his name, Zoey will be the target"

"I can't. I'm sorry"

Kensi and Deeks stood up and walked out. They saw Callen and Sam sitting there and looking at the plasma.

"Anything?" Kens asked.

"He said that he works for a guy and he was told to kill us but when he saw Zoey, he couldn't do it. He said he planted the bomb and he couldn't kill a little girl and then you came over for a bottle of water so he wrote a note to get you out of the building. When we asked who his boss was, he lawyered up"

Kensi and Deeks told them what Jenny said.

"They'll do anything to keep their boss safe" Kensi said.

"Yeah. Let's go back to ops and see if the twins have anything" Callen said.

*In the bullpen*

Zoey was sitting at Callens desk and Granger sat at Kensi's and they were playing cards and laughing. Granger seemed nicer to Zoey than towards anyone else. He started asking her simple questions about the case.

"Where did you see the man before?"

"My birthday"

"Why didn't you say anything?"

"He said he was a friend and he was keeping mommy safe"

"Do you remember what he looked like?"

"No"

"Did he say anything else to you?"

"No"

"Okay"

They continued playing cards and tell jokes and laughing. A few minutes later, Kensi, Deeks, Callen and Sam walked in and saw Zoey and Granger having fun together. They never saw Granger as happy.

"Mommy! Daddy!" She said happily when she saw her parents.

Granger looked at them.

"Did you get anything?" He asked sternly.

Kensi and Deeks told them what they got and Callen and Sam went to ops and asked Eric and Nell if they  found anything. Callen called Kensi and Deeks from the top of the stairs and Kensi and Deeks ran to ops.

"We were looking for any other sighting of the SUV  and we got something. When the guy was following you, there were no plates but there was a marines bumper sticker and we were able to use that to find it. Every night it is parked outside an apartment and a man wearing a black hoodie and baseball cap walks in and out."

"Do you know who owns the SUV?"

"The same make and model was reported missing about three months ago"

"That's when Zoey said she saw the man"

"Who reported it missing?"

"Uh- Cathy Johnson"

"Sam and I will talk to Cathy Johnson. You two go to the apartment"

Kensi and Deeks nodded their heads and Kensi turned to Nell.

"Send the address to my cell" Kensi said.

Nell nodded her head and send the address to Kensi. They all walked out. Kensi and Deeks told Zoey where they were going and she was fine with it. Kensi drove to the apartment and when they got there, the apartment was empty. Kensi and Deeks cleared the apartment and Deeks cleared the bedroom. He looked at the wall and on the wall was "you're too late" . It was written in blood.

"Kens" He called.

Kensi walked in and looked at it. Deeks looked at Kensi and she looked worried.

"We're going to get this guy" Deeks said.

Kensi nodded her head and looked at Deeks.

"Look at this" She said.

Deeks followed her to the table in the kitchen and a small coffee table.

"Oh my god. Who is this guy?"
