You had an average life. You lived in a lovely town with many small local shops, restaurants, and colorful history. You live by yourself in an apartment. You have nice furniture, a cozy bed, and a small kitchen. You recently just graduated from university. Luckily you had no loans to pay. However, there is one thing that nobody knows about you. You're a huge anime fan. You visited Tokyo several times in the past, and you got an excellent katana that you hung up in an apartment. You like Demon Slayer and have an entire collection of manga books in English and Japanese. You like one character, in particular, Giyuu Tomoika. You read many fanfics online and had a screen lock once. However, you have been extremely busy ever since you graduated from university. Instead, you look at the screen laptop and the blank paper. You want to go into the film industry as a screenwriter, but it has been challenging. You came up with several, but none of them were good. Suddenly, you heard a knocking delivery for Ms (first name) (last name) from England. 'Finally, that damn package arrived!' You thought to yourself. You went to the door and opened it, signed the package immediately closed the door.
A few months you ordered a wishing ritual from an online store. You get a kitchen knife from your knife set, and you open the box. The box had two white candles, a handmade pentagram, and small blank paper. You thought long and hard about what you wanted. You wanted Giyuu to be real. Michael, you haven't had the best track record for romantic relationships, especially previous ones. You have been with him for so long that many family members thought you would get married. However, on Valentine's Day, you discovered he was cheating on you.
To make matters worse, it was one of your close friends that you have been with since middle school. You were curled up for days, crying.
Eventually, your other best friend, Sky, finally got you out of that state. However, you fully could not heal from the breakup. Maybe somebody from a fictional world would work; you light up the candles with a match. You start to write down your wish on the small card, and once you're finished, you put a small letter with the spell in the middle. You start to read the spell. However, there was a word you didn't know how to pronounce. By the looks of it, it is an old English word. You tried to pronounce it as best you could. However, you had no idea you royally screwed up pronouncing the word. It was so wrong that the spell went wrong, just that you didn't know then. Once you finished the ritual, you followed the rest of the instructions. Once finished with the ritual, you threw away the stuff and took out the trash. It was trash night, you thought; they usually come early in the morning. So you got the garbage from the apartment to the curb and threw it into the other occupants' trash pile. You walked back home and returned to your apartment; you were so tired from your part-time job at the bookstore today that it may be best if you head to bed. You go into your bedroom, get in only a nightshirt, brush your teeth, bedhead, and soon fast asleep.
You were woken from your sleep hearing a clattering of stuff. The noise got louder and louder. You got up from the bed and looked at the clock that said it was 2 am. You thought to yourself, 'who the fuck would be up at 2 in the morning?' You heard the clattering, and it sounded like it was coming from your kitchen. Immediately as registration in your mind that it is coming to your kitchen, you grab your katana from under your bed and grab the phone just in case. You head out of the room and approach the noise cluttering. As you moved from the out bedroom, you saw that things were an utter mess in the living room and moved to the kitchen and saw him. You thought, 'This can't be real; maybe I am still asleep....' Your spell worked; it was like a dream. He was real. Giyuu was real, and you try not to fangirl over that fact. However, it seems that he wasn't so thrilled. Maybe, having your katana with you wasn't the brightest idea in the world.
He pulled his sword at you with an angry face、 " あなたはいったい何者で、私はどこにいるの?!"
(what Giyuu said: Who are you and where am I?!)
Luckily you took Japanese as a language course for three years, and you understood what he said.
" あなたはアメリカにいて、私のアパートにいます! 私の名前は(フルネーム)です。," you said.
(what you said: You are in America, and you are in my apartment! My name is (full name). )
Giyuu's face went pale, 'The last thing I remember was that I was traveling when I thought I saw something, and next thing I know, I am in this place with this girl. Now, I am in a completely different country where I can't speak a lick of English!' Secretly he had an existential crisis. He is in a country where he can't speak his native language, and this place seems to be so foreign.
Then a question came into his mind, and he said, " どうやって日本語を知っていますか? この文化の女性は特にその言語を知っているべきではありません。"
( What Giyuu said: How do you know Japanese? Women in this culture should see the language in particular.")
It took a few minutes to understand what he said, and you were offended at first, but then you realized that maybe you should be the one to break the news.
" まず第一に、それはあなたに非常に失礼でした! 重要な情報をお伝えする必要があると思う第二のこと....あなたは2022年にここにいます.女性は学校に通い、男性と一緒に働くことができます.もちろん、社会での私たちの仕事を評価しない人もいます。"
(What you said: First of all, that was very rude of you! The second thing I think I need to give you essential information...You are in the year of 2022. Women can go to school, can work with men...Of course, some people do not appreciate our work in society.)
It took several minutes to process what he had just heard. Not only was he in a foreign country, but he was in a foreign country in the future. Giyuu was in a severe dilemma. He was in a distant future, in a faraway land, with none of his other members. Likely they are all dead by now, and he has nobody with him. Giyuu weighed his options, and there weren't many options he had. The first thing was the currency that he had with him was probably worthless. Second, even if he can exchange the money, he doesn't have any documentation or identity, especially now he is in the distant future, which would make leaving this country near impossible. Third, even if he could leave the country he is in, he would be coming home to nobody. All people that knew him are dead by now, and likely he assumed that meant that it was reversed that the people that knew him probably thought he was dead as well. So staying with this person would be the best option that he had.
" 私があなたと一緒にいることは可能ですか? 私が残した唯一のオプションだと思う以外に、私が持っているオプションはあまりありません..." Giyuu asked.
(what he said: Is it possible for me to stay with you? I don't have many options, and I think this is the only option I have left....)
It took a few minutes to understand what he said, but once you did understand what he said. You had to contain those emotions rushing through you. It felt like a dream-like scenario that you read from those fanfictions you read when you used to have a lot of time. You had hidden those emotions from him.
You answered by hiding those emotions. " はい!あなたはできる!私たちはあなたのためにいくつかの服を手に入れる必要がありますが、私はあなたのために服を買います!ゲス部屋も掃除しなきゃいけないから、今夜はソファで寝ていいよ!今夜、予備の毛布と枕を用意します!"
(what you said: Yes! You can stay here! We will need to get some clothes for you, but I will buy clothes for you! I have to clean the guest room too so that you can sleep on the sofa tonight! I will have to get the extra blankets and pillows tonight!)
Giyuu bowed, you left the kitchen room, and you went to the small closet space you had. Where the extra blankets and pillows you had were, you got them for him. You returned with the extra blankets and pillows and made a temporary sofa bed for him. You said goodnight to him and returned to your bedroom as you closed the door. You were so happy when you jumped in bed. You rolled around, not trying to squeal! You looked at the ceiling with a huge smile; your spell worked. However, you had no idea that the period you thought worked was about revealing the truth to you soon.
You messed up the spell, but you also messed up the story itself too...
Coming next: Chapter 2: The consequences of the spell going awry and presenting itself to you
