As the days passed, you couldn't shake off the unease that accompanied you. You tried to keep yourself busy by spending time with Giyuu or Shinobu. There was a nagging feeling that something was coming.

You were carrying some sheets to the hospital ward. You looked outside to the storm clouds brewing outside and sighed. You weren't looking when you bumped into someone, and it was Aoi. She was carrying some books. The sheets and books were scattered everywhere.

"Oh my god! I am sorry! I wasn't looking..." you said as you helped her pick up the books she was carrying.

"It's fine, but you need to be more careful when walking," Aoi said as she picked up the remaining books, refold the sheets, and gave them to you.

"It seems like everything has been tense," you said as you picked up the sheets.

Aoi nodded in agreement, "Yeah, usually the butterfly mansion doesn't have this level of tense, but with the recent events, it seems that the mansion has been caught in the mind of things..." Aoi said as you handed her some books while carrying your sheets with your other hand. After giving her the book, with both of your hands carrying your sheets, she walked down a long hallway with you.

"I am sorry if I am causing any trouble, but I like spending my time here with everyone. I know I can't help out that much because of the baby, but I want to try and help everyone I can..." you said.

"I can relate to you, even though I am on the sidelines a lot, I want to help to the best of my ability, though I have to admit I wish I could be more useful..." Aoi said as she looked at you, then she looked down the hallway.

"By the way...I have a question...those books are carrying them to Shinobu?" you asked, pointing to them.

Aoi nodded yes and spoke, "Yes, I am; lately, Shinobu has been developing a medication with another person; she hasn't told me what it is about yet, but she recently asked me to get some books for her wide selection that she gathers over her years."

You smiled at her, " I think you are doing a great job, especially since dealing with all the patients can be quite hard." you said, looking at her.

Aoi slightly smiled at your statement, " Thank you, yes, it can be quite hard at times, but I like helping out other people." Aoi said as Aoi stood near the entrance of Shinobu's research room.

You smiled as you passed by her; Aoi saw you walking down the hallway towards the hospital ward section. She softly smiled at you. It felt nice that someone besides Shinobu, Tanjiro, and Kanao acknowledge her work. She then knocked on the door.

"You can come in," Shinobu said as Aoi entered the room. The room was a bit messy from all the research that Shinobu was doing. Aoi put the books down on the desk where Shinobu was analyzing something.

Shinobu was looking in the microscope and wrote some notes down before she peered up at Aoi. "Thank you for getting those books for me,"

"You're welcome...Sorry, it took longer than I expected; I bumped into y/n; she seems to be a nice girl, even though she is a foreigner; I can see now why she's here..." Aoi said as she smiled to herself.

"Yes, she is; she reminds me a bit of her...my sister; I can see why Giyuu gravitated towards her; it's nice that he finally has someone to care about. He has been a lone wolf for so long, I thought I could reach him, but I realized now that maybe he was meant for her," Shinobu said as she opened one of the books as looked up to Aoi, stunned there. There Shinobu realized she just put the mask she wore down in front of her. Aoi could see the real emotions of Shinobu. Shinobu quickly changed back, but you could see the real her for an instant.

"I haven't seen like this in a while. This was the first time I had seen like this..." Aoi said as she looked at Shinobu.

Shinobu hand flipped through the pages to the pages in the middle, and she looked at the page in the middle of the book.

"The last time I was like this was right after my sister passed away. It had been so long since my masked self just became myself, and it wasn't y/n who came into my life. I realized that my mask wasn't helping me through the pain." Shinobu said.

"It seems so tense right now with everything. I am surprised that y/n can manage it even when she is pregnant," Aoi replied.

"We have our way of managing it. I think y/n has been able to manage because Giyuu is around. Right now, it felt so tense, yet I felt like this is the calm before the storm," Shinobu said as she at Aoi.

"Storm?" Aoi asked with her face full of concern.

Shinobu nodded. "Yes, I felt it. The house has a different feeling to it. I can sense that things are heading full speed, and this time, I don't think we will be able to steer clear. I can hope that I am wrong, but something is telling me that something will happen. Aoi, can you make a promise to me, if anything happens to me or this house, that you protect everyone inside of this house to the best abilities?" Shinobu asked.

"Why are you asking that?" Aoi asked, looking at Shinobu.

"Because I have this feeling that something is going happen to me, the house of cards fall, I won't be there to protect anyone. I know Kanao might be there, but there is this feeling that she might not be there when all hell breaks loose, so I am leaving it to your care when that time comes," Shinobu said as she put her one hand down on the right of the page in the middle of the book as she looked Aoi with shock on her face.

Aoi's face turned serious, and she nodded, "I understand. I hope if you are saying what you are saying, it doesn't happen."

"I fear that path we are on is now unavoidable, and when it hits the fan, there will be somebody there to protect this house..." Shinobu said as she frowned and looked down at the books.

Shinobu sighed, her expression serious. "Aoi, I need you to promise me that you will protect y/n if something happens to me. She is important and needs to be kept safe," she said firmly, looking at Aoi with a reassuring gaze.

Aoi nodded determination in her eyes. "I promise, Shinobu. I will keep her safe, no matter what," she said, her voice unwavering.

Shinobu smiled at Aoi, proud of her for being so strong. "Thank you, Aoi."

Meanwhile, you finished putting the sheets on the beds and after finishing up the other tasks. You went to visit Giyuu at his house. You sat with Giyuu, holding his hand tightly as you watched the light grey clouds in the sky pass by. You couldn't help but feel grateful for the moment.

"Whatever happens, I'll always be here for you," Giyuu said softly, breaking the silence.

You smiled at him. "I know. And I'll always be here for you, too," you replied as you looked down at your stomach, knowing your child was growing inside. Then Giyuu kissed you and put his hand down on your stomach. You felt a sense of calmness wash over you. Even though everything is tense with Giyuu by your side, you feel you can make it through. However, you didn't know that you were about head into the eye of the storm. This would last a few days before all hell breaks loose on you and your fellow demon slayers.
