Y/N:
Darkness. Blinding, pitch darkness. I rub my eyes, squeezing them shut and opening them again. Still, darkness. I step forward, a light splashing sound rings in my ears. I halt, surprised. Am I in water?
I lift my heel up and tap it down gently, the ball of my foot staying firm on the ground. Splash. I squat, my knees to my chest and feet flat on the ground. I reach down, brushing my hand against the illusive ground. It's not exactly water. It isn't wet, or feels like a liquid. Instead, a soft mist touches my hand, blowing through my fingers.
I stand, jumping up and down like I'm in a puddle. Splash splash splash. I furrow my brows, trying to squint down at the ground and see what it is to no avail. Nothing but infinite emptiness.
I walk forward, the mist splashing beneath my feet as I walk. There's no changes in my sight or the splashing.
A light. It shines, a beacon above me. I'm drawn to it like a moth to a flame, reaching my arms up and grasping for it. Perhaps I am dead, and I will feel the sweet relief of eternal peace and nothingness. I will finally be free.
A faint familiar voice echoes above. "Hey, I think something's happening!" Is it Raph speaking? "I knew it! I believed in her!" It's definitely Raph's voice. I stare up at the light now with pure curiosity.
Blinking, bright light and darkness. It's all blurry then a green face with a red mask. Raphael. I groan, closing my eyes again and wishing to slip back into sleep. He taps on me. "No, no, girl. Don't go back to sleep. Please, stay awake."
I force my eyes to open and order him to turn off the lights. My head pounds and the light feels like daggers going through my eyes straight into my skull.
"Easy now, easy." The purple-masked turtle says. I listen, only slowly allowing myself to sit up. Then I notice all four turtles are staring down at me in bewilderment, eyes wide, almost excited.
"What's the big deal?" I ask.
"You're awake, doofus." Raph says, a smile on his face. He really risked his life to save me. However will I repay him? The purple-masked turtle offers me a water bottle. My chapped lips, dry tongue, and sore throat thank him for the cold refreshing water. All the guys are still staring.
"Seriously, I feel like a freakshow." I say then let out a light laugh, which feels like a slash to my throat. The guys suddenly back off a bit, apologizing.
The purple-masked turtle dismisses everyone to do an evaluation on me. "This is embarrassing, because I truly am very grateful for your help, but what is your name?" I ask him. He laughs politely and introduces himself. I ask about the blue-masked and orange-masked turtles' names too. "I don't know why, but I still remember Raph." I tell him. He smiles.
Donnie tells me that Raph carried me to the lair and has been by my bedside ever since. Apparently, I've been unconscious for days and he hasn't left the lair at all. "He seems sweet." I say then groan when Donnie gently inspects a bruise.
He chuckles. "That isn't the first word I've heard anyone use to describe him, but sure." I raise an eyebrow, but don't question it. My throat is so dry and sore.
Suddenly, I heave over and vomit all over the lab floor. I apologize profusely and Donnie waves a hand. "It's okay, Y/N. I'll clean it up." I blush in embarrassment, glad Raph left the lab and didn't see me spew chunks. I take a few more sips of water, thinking of what to do.
"So, dudette, what's it like to be in a coma?" Mikey asks me, approaching from behind the couch I'm resting on while shoving a slice of pizza into his mouth.
"Weird." I say quietly. I've lost my voice and spoken very minimally since waking up. "Where's Raph?"
Mikey shrugs his shoulders. "I don't know, dudette. It's so weird. He was obsessed with you while you were asleep. Always sitting by your side, talking to you, even taking naps with you. Now, I haven't seen him for a few hours."
"Oh." I say, looking down at my lap. Mikey offers to cheer me up by playing video games, but I decline because the bright flashing lights and loud noises will bother my head.
"I could read comics to you. I know Donnie said you can't read but I can still show you the pictures." I grin and agree. He's so bubbly and eager to try to cheer me up. Still, I wonder where Raph went.
