Anytime you see an asterisk (*) next to a place that means it is a real place in South Korea, otherwise, I made the places up for story purposes.
I unpacked all my belongings organizing them as I put them away. After I finished putting everything up including my suitcases, I checked the time. It was a little after 1 in the afternoon. My stomach grumbled. With that grumble, it dawned on me that I hadn't eaten in almost two days. I needed to fix that asap I thought as I crossed over to my closet door.
I opened them up and pulled out a change of clothes throwing them on my bed. I also grabbed the towel that I had thankfully decided to bring with me. There were no linens or towels provided which was understandable. Towel in hand I went to the bathroom and jumped in the shower. I quickly washed up except for my hair because it was cold outside, and I wasn't trying to get sick as soon as I arrived here.
Leaving the bathroom, towel wrapped around me, I entered my bedroom and got dressed. I put on a pair of jeans, a long-sleeved t-shirt, hoodie, and my jacket. I also put on my scarf letting my hair down afterwards throwing on a ski cap to keep my ears and head warm for good measure. I felt my bedroom and walked down into the short hallway and plopped down on the floor pulling my boots on. After tying my laces, I hopped up from where I sat and walked over to the kitchen island to grab the list, I had made of everything that I needed to get. I figured it was going to take me two trips or more to get everything I had listed on it. But first things first, food. Food was my main priority. I grabbed my crossbody bag and slung it over my head. I pulled my glasses and gloves out of my it and slipped them on. I had taken my contacts out since I wanted to give my eyes a rest. That and I wasn't bringing my camera with me which is when I wore them.
Making sure I had everything I needed which I did, I stepped out of my apartment and headed for the elevator. Once in I pressed the button for the main floor. As the elevator descended, I could feel my excitement increasing at roaming around the city for the first time. I exited the elevator nodding my head in greeting to the security guard that hadn't moved since I went up to my apartment earlier. I gave a small wave to Jihun who had looked up from behind the desk with a smile as I made for the building exit.
Before leaving though, I took my phone out of my pocket and unlocked it. I had downloaded an app called iTourSeoul* before I left home which looked like it might help me navigate my way around. I opened it up and it located me after I turned on my location. I selected the things to do tab on the bottom and then selected restaurants. It immediately pulled up everything that was close to me. I scanned through them. Since there were so many I just decided to walk around and check each one out that I came across until I found something that looked good. I put my phone back in my pocket and headed outside.
As soon as the doors opened, I was hit with a wall of cold. Even though it was around 3 in the afternoon now it was still cold. If I remembered correctly, it was 37 ºF. Not much different than Rhode Island I thought as I made a left taking in my surroundings as I made my way down the sidewalk. It reminded me a bit of New York City with how busy the place was. There was a good amount of people going about their business with traffic being just as steady. I got to the first intersection and waited to cross the street with everyone else that was waiting to do the same. I crossed the street with everyone else when the light indicated we could.
On the other side of the street now, I saw off in the distance a place to eat. Since I was so hungry, I decided that I didn't care to look anywhere else. Whatever that place was serving, I was going to be eating it. I noticed along the way there were a few shops. One looked like a café. I made a mental note of the location so I could revisit it tomorrow.
