When LOVE is not Enough

Chapter 6 - Angel

I managed to get to the gym on time today but my face dropped the moment I found Axel already waiting for me.

"Do you sleep here?", I asked and a smile appeared on his face making me smile back. "No. I'm just punctual unlike some people I know", he mocked making me roll my eyes.

I changed my clothes then we went through the same routine as the day before. "You know, you could try lifting some of these as well instead of just taking advantage of the view", that made me blush considering I was checking him out despite the room being filled with countless men, my eyes seemed stuck on his tattoos.

"Now where is the fun in that?", I teased going back to counting his push-ups. 

"Cafe as usual?", "Yeah sure", I said running to the ladies' locker room to change quickly.

When I was done I found him waiting for me at the reception on his phone as usual, we took the elevator to the ground floor only today he was standing right next to me holding my hand.

When I looked around I saw there was a group of guys checking me out one even waved at me, and I smiled at him only to be turned to face Axel's side with him still on the phone.

He hung up as we walked into the cafe and sat in the same spot. "I hope you don't mind but my best friend has decided to hack our date", he said nervously as two other men approached us. "It ok", I replied while still thinking of the word 'date' as one of them smiled at me.

"Well hello there, my name is Blake, this guy's best friend and this is our Mr. Lu. I'm sorry to interfere with your date", he said and again, I found myself out of words as I heard the word, was this what it was? a date?

"Mr. Lu, please have a seat", Axel said his fun side long gone. But the amusement on Mr. Lu's face was even more visible. "Thank you, son, I'm very sorry for this but I'm leaving tomorrow and this could not wait", "I understand. This is my friend and gym partner Angel", he stepped in after seeing that I was still mute.

"The name fits you perfectly my dear", "Oh! Thank you", I hid myself in the menu until I felt a hand reaching towards me under the table I took it quickly, he gave me a light squeeze as he continued to talk with the two gentlemen. 

"That settles it, I will pass by on the way to the airport to sign the documents yes?", "Yes, please. Looking forward to it", Axel replied shaking his hand, they said good night and left.

"I'm so sorry about that, I tried to push it to tomorrow but the old man wouldn't budge". "It's ok really, I don't mind", I assured him as we ordered and ended up sharing the fries again.

I enjoyed spending time with Axel, he was real and I liked it. "I'm going to let you order from now on. Your food is always better than mine", I said with a huff making him laugh.

"It's ok I don't mind", he said while eating with his left hand, he refused to let go of my hand when Mr. Lu and Blake left.

"Angel. Is it ok if we go out sometimes like on a proper date that has nothing to do with Anthony?", he said with a smile making me laugh. "Yeah sure, I would like that", my answer appeared to make him happy. 

His phone rang at the same time as always, I smiled at him as he answered it. I watched the way he was talking to his daughter it was clear that they were close, I wondered how that worked with the whole co-parenting thing but I was not in a position to question it.

"What? no... fine can you at least let me do this on your birthday? ok cool, love you too", he said hanging up. I could see that he was nervous.

"What is it?", "My Daughter has invited you to her birthday next month. Her mother usually hosts it and to be honest I never go, I usually send a present but she is really excited that I'm having friends and she would like to meet you if that's ok with you", he said avoiding my eyes.

"Oh, can I think about it?", I asked not wanting to hurt his feelings. "Of course, we could wait, it's just that she tends to be pushy when she is excited that's all", I smiled at the thought of a child pushing him around.

"How old is Alice?", "Thirteen, sometimes I think she is older when her bossy behaviour is visible", that made me chuckle. "It's not funny, dealing with a teenager is a pain that I wouldn't wish on anyone", he said.

"But it's clear that you love her so I'm sure it's not that bad", "I do, she's my whole world", the way he said it made me miss my Father. The love of a girl for her Father can never be matched by any other relationship so I was happy for him. "I can see a six-foot giant being scolded into line by a thirteen-year-old, totally easy to imagine", I teased making him laugh. 

Me: Hi, am home.

Zeus🔥: Me too.

Me: Ok, Good night.

Zeus🔥: Good night my Angel.

Me: Stop being cheesy.

Zeus🔥: You love it 😘

Me: 🙄

I changed into my pajamas and fell asleep like a light. 

"Iris I need your help", is said rushing to Iris's table. "Give him your pussy, lord knows it's like the Sahara desert down there", she said not giving me time to talk.

"Not everything is about sex, what's wrong with you?", "Fine, what is it?", "He has a thirteen-year-old daughter and she has invited me to her birthday", "And? What's the problem with that?", "There is a baby mama involved and her husband, what do you think?".

"I don't see a problem, honestly. They have moved on and so did he, just go and see what happens. I know this guy loves you Angel just let him in", "Love huh?".

"Yes Love, so just go with the flow, it's clear that he is also ok with your snail's pace so go to the party and make sure you look hot as hell. You need to show that baby mama that you own the joint", her sentence made us both laugh.
