When LOVE is not Enough

Chapter 34 - Angel

The way he said it made me swallow hard. He looked me in the eyes and something told me he was not kidding. "I'm sorry to disappoint you but this is going to be the first time that you don't", I said with all the courage I could master.

Instead of looking defeated he smiled, he looked sexy when he did it making me want to ask why he didn't do it often. "I like a challenge", he finally said making Travis chuckle.

My phone started ringing making me answer without looking at the caller ID. "Angel, honey, I've sent you a list of things I want at the store on your WhatsApp can you get them for me?", Mum asked making me nod, Titan gestured for me to use my mouth which made me understand that I was supposed to answer since she couldn't see me. "Yes Mum, I'll get them", I replied then hung up.

"You look speechless Angel. Having mixed feelings?", Travis teased making me feel frustrated. "I can assure you I'm not. I always commit to my relationships so changing my mind is something that I will never do... I have to go, thank you for the drink", I said then walked away quickly before I could embarrass myself more.

I passed by the grocery again and bought Mum's stuff before going home. I found them sitting in the backyard talking.

Dad came and helped me with the bags. "He's a good kid. I think I like him", he said as we arranged the stuff in the cupboards. "Oh really? So the age thing doesn't bother you anymore or the fact that he has Alice?", I teased making him smile.

"Stop being a smarty pants", he said making me laugh. We joined the rest of the group when we were done.

I sat next to Axel who kissed my temple pulling me closer to him. "I missed you", he said in a whisper. "I missed you too", I replied.

"I met Travis and Titan at the grocery store", I said as we got cozy in the bed. "What did he say to you?", Axel asked with furrowed brows. "He told me about Tina, he said that she was a scam and she was using you to get to him. I believe him. He handled the situation badly but I trust his intention", I said then looked up to meet his eyes.

"Angel, you just met the guy", "No, I have been working with him long enough to see that he cares about you. He valued your friendship, you're all that he talks about, and in a good way. Can you at least try to be nice to him next time you meet him?", I asked making him raise a brow.

"And what about you and Titan, should I be worried?", he asked making me look at him like he just lost his nuts. "What? Why?", "Well, it's obvious that he wants you. I mean he was looking at you throughout the day. He can offer you a life without responsibility or a crazy baby mama", "So?", I asked pushing him back, creating a distance between us. He tried pulling me back but I refused. 

"Angel, I'm just asking", "Why do you always do that? Every time you see a threat the first thing you think of 'is if I want out'. When is this insecurity issue going to end huh?", I said a little louder than necessary.

He released a breath and then pinched his nose, he looked frustrated and I wished I had a way to understand why he didn't see what I saw. 

To me, Axel Bane Knox was and still is the man that owns my heart, not because of his money but his amazing character and his selflessness. He's sexy and all I could ever want but he still thinks he isn't enough. We have gone through everything i mean, what the hell?

I got out of bed and took my phone. I went to Alice's room and knocked. She allowed me to get in. I didn't say a word and just went to sleep on the untouched side of the bed.

"Angel? Is everything ok?", she asked making me turn to face her with a fake smile. "Yeah, go to sleep", I said then spooned her. She fell asleep in an instant. I tried to think of a way to make Axel feel better about himself and finally settled with asking Blake for help. He knew Axel more than anyone.

"Michael come look. They look adorable", I heard Mum's voice and wondered why she was up so early. I opened my eyes and found her taking a picture of us. To my surprise, I was being spooned by Axel putting me in the middle of him and Alice.

"Mum that's creepy", I said startling her. "I know, but I couldn't resist besides, the door was open so I had to peak", she said innocently making Dad chuckle. I smiled. She was so obsessed with Alice so who was I to judge?

"Dad can you pull me from the foot?", I suggested, he went to the foot of the bed and pulled me from between my natural blankets making them wake up. "What are you guys doing?", Alice asked with a giggle.

"Oh they were attempting to move Angel without waking you", Mum said with excitement as if it was a successful mission. Axel smiled at her, he looked troubled and I knew why but I was not going to tell my parents that. "Axel you look rough, feeling ok?", Dad asked making me bite my lip, hoping he won't say a thing. "Yeah I'm good, just feeling a little tired I guess", he said avoiding my eyes.

"What did you guys fight about?", Mum asked making me turn to her and found her smiling knowingly. "How did you know?", I asked making her walk closer to me. She pulled me to the side so she was the one turning the pancakes on the stove. "Talk to me Angel, I'm your mother. I know better", she said making me release a breath.

"I should be grateful that I have a man that loves me and can give me anything that money can buy but...", I couldn't finish, I felt like I was being choked until I felt Mum's hand on mine, encouraging me to go on.

"His insecurities are getting on my nerves, at first I thought it was hot, having a man be obsessed with me, it felt amazing but then it was getting too much. Like yesterday, I told him that I met Travis and Titan at the grocery store and all he got out of it was me being with Titan and then he started asking if I wanted out like this whole 'him having a child' was such a burden to me that I would run in another man's arms in a blink of an eye.

Mum, I felt tired and I just wanted to be far away from him which is how I ended up in Alice's room with no idea when Axel joined the club", I finished and it felt way better.
