Chapter 42 - Angel

I arrived at the place Wade texted me to meet him for dinner and it was a diner. I have never been to a diner that was this fancy. I walked in and saw him at the bar.

Missing a buff man with 6.6ft and jet-black hair wasn't hard. I walked up to him and poked his shoulder making him turn to look at me. His light grey eyes were so addicting.

"Hi", "Hi... uh, I was waiting for you so I uh... let's go to our table", he said nervously making me smile. I didn't expect him to be nervous, it surprised me. When we reached our table, he pulled out a chair for me and then took his seat when I was settled. "You look beautiful", he said making me smile. "Thank you Wade", i replied. 

The waitress came and took our drinks order and left us with the menu.

When our drinks arrived, he ordered for me which surprised me. "I like sharing food, I hope you don't mind", he said making me smile. "No I don't, it's your night so we can have whatever you want", I said making him smile then his eyes fell on my lips for a brief second.

"I have to ask, you look like a fancy restaurant kind of guy and yet you brought me to a diner, what gives?", my question made his eyes sparkle with mischief.

He didn't say a word until the food came and I took the first bite of the barbecue ribs from the platter that he ordered.

"Oh my god! This is the best pork rib I've ever had", I said making him laugh. It was like someone was doing a drum sound check. "I come here every time I'm in town and this is what I usually order. It has a bit of everything that's on the menu", he said then ate a rib.

He had barbecue sauce on his cheek so I took my tissue and wiped it away. "Thank you", he said with a smile as if he was surprised by my action. "You're welcome", i said and we went back to eating and lord knows this man can eat. He ate two-thirds of the food. No wonder he got along with Dad. They had the same addiction.

"So what's your story?", I asked when we were done and the table was cleared leaving us with the second round of drinks. I switched from a cocktail to wine and he was on scotch whisky.

"Well, I'm divorced, it's my fourth year as a single man. My ex-wife took everything I owned and I had to start from scratch. I don't have a permanent home because where I used to call home doesn't feel the same anymore. My whole life was built around her so when I met your Dad it kinda gave me roots of some kind", he said with a killer smile.

"What about your parents?", I asked. "They died when I was fifteen so I was raised by my Uncle", "Oh, I'm so sorry", "Don't be, it was a long time ago", he said making me give him a weak smile.

"Thank you for taking care of my parents by the way. It's sweet of you", I said making him look at me like he wanted to take my soul. "It's hard not to, they're amazing people", he finally spoke.

"Thank you for having dinner with me on such short notice", he said when he walked me to my door. "Thank you for inviting me", I said avoiding his eyes. He lifted my chin making me look up at him and swallow hard. "I hope to see you again Angel, will that be ok?", he asked making me feel wet in a place where I didn't want to control our conversation at the moment.

"Yes... I would like that too", I said then closed my eyes but ended up getting a kiss on the cheek. When I opened my eyes he was looking at me with a huge smile on his face. "So sexy", he whispered making me moan. "Good night Angel", he said then walked away before I could answer.

It's Olympia's annual gala where we usually invite our clients to come and celebrate with us. The place is full of fancy people in suits and evening gowns. There's a bar where people order drinks and a band plays music. In short, the place looked fancy.

Iris, Lily, and I had just arrived. We have a lot to celebrate considering Lily is officially engaged. Iris is still rubbing it on our faces because she told us Blake was going to propose and we didn't believe her. "Why are they looking at us like that?", I asked making Lily and Iris look around us. "Oh, honey. They want all of this", Iris said gesturing toward our bodies making us laugh and head to the bar.

"Oh, hi Angel. I thought I saw you. You look pretty", Kira said sarcastically making me furrow my brows. "Kira, don't test my patience baby girl. This is your world, not mine so I don't have an image to maintain", Iris said out of nowhere scaring Kira to death.

"Who the hell are you? I don't even know you", she asked with a trembling voice. "I'm her sister so you better start walking", she said walking closer to her. It made Kira walk away looking terrified. "Do you have to do that all the time!", Lily whined making me laugh.

"YAP, you saw she was about to give us a foul mood. We're engaged we don't have time for this bullshit", Iris said handing me a blue cocktail.

"Let's look for a place to sit", I said and we started scanning around until we found a place that we all agreed to sit. I saw Daren looking at me like he wanted to come and talk but I looked away fast. I didn't want drama tonight.

"Good evening everyone and welcome to our annual gala", Mr. Monroe said making us all clap for him. "As you know Olympia has been my child for a while now and we have seen tremendous growth, I'm proud to say that it wouldn't have happened if it wasn't for every one of you. With that being said I would like to announce that I will be stepping down as the CEO of Olympia Microfinance", his announcements shocked the whole room.

"Don't be too quiet now it's not all that bad. How am I supposed to build Olympia Empire if I focus on microfinance only?", he teased making us laugh.

He displayed the new structure of the Olympia Empire and it had six companies under it. "So you can see. I am stepping out as CEO because I decided to promote myself to President of Olympia Empire", he said and we all clapped.

"Let's get to the moment we've all been waiting for. I present to you, the CEO of Olympia Microfinance... Wade Bennett", he said and I froze the moment I saw the same person I just had dinner with.
