When LOVE is not Enough

Chapter 25 - Angel

I'm covered in goosebumps, the excitement is overwhelming me. I haven't visited my parents in two years. We have been talking but it all died down when I met Axel. I know Mum has her suspicions but Dad hasn't said anything.

"Angel!!! Over here!", I heard Mum shouting from the waiting stand making me smile. She was still as beautiful as I remembered I swear to you, my parents are vampires.

When I was closer she pulled me in a hug. "I'm not missing out on this", Dad said hugging the both of us. "You're glowing, oh my goodness", Mum said pulling back while Dad reached for my bag.

"How have you guys been?", I asked sitting at the kitchen counter. Mum was stirring something in the pot that smelled heavenly as I watched.

"Bad, my baby girl didn't come to visit me", Dad said handing me a glass of wine while sitting next to me. "I'm sorry, I just got busy with work but we've been talking non-stop, give me some credit", I pleaded making Mum turn to look at me with a questioning eye.

"Angel Renee Carwyn are you still with that good-for-nothing Daren?", she asked angrily. It shocked me. "No, I'm not! Why would you think that?", I asked hoping he didn't call them and tell them things were ok between us.

"Well for starters, you're glowing, and second we've never seen you this happy since the last time you were here which was a very long time ago and you were dating Daren", Dad said matter of factly.

I released a breath and thanked god Daren had nothing to do with anything then smiled. "Well if you must know... I met someone and I really like him", I said with a huge smile.

Mum's just stared at me like she didn't hear what I said while Dad furrowed his brows. I didn't know if they were happy for me or not.

"Guys, he's an amazing boyfriend and father too", I said hoping that the last part will return them from whatever limbo they were stuck in. "Did she just say, father? He has kids?", Mum asked Dad as if I was not sitting right next to him.

"How old is he?", Dad asked accusingly. "Just one and he's 42, What's that have to do with anything?", I asked feeling uncomfortable. "Where's the mother of his child?", Mum asked abandoning the stove completely. This is not how I planned on having this conversation but there was no way out.

"Mum, he is a single parent. He has full custody of his daughter and the wife is with her husband. She left him because he couldn't give her a fancy life. He is an amazing person and I would like for you guys to meet him and his daughter and see what I see", I pleaded not knowing that I had tears in my eyes by the time I wanted to wipe them away Dad beat me to it.

"Hey... we trust you ok? We just wanted to be sure that's all", he said holding my face in his hands with a smile on his face. "It didn't sound like it... It sounded like you were questioning his feelings for me.

I trust him and I love him. I know he loves me too and if you give him a chance, you will see that too", I said with more tears. He pulled me to his chest without saying another word.

"I'm gonna go freshen up", I said pulling away from him.

Me: Just got home. I miss you guys already.

Zeus 🔥: We miss you too 🥺

Zeus 🔥: How are they?

Me: They're ok.

Zeus 🔥: What's wrong?

Me: Why would you think something is wrong?

Zeus 🔥: You're not writing paragraphs about them. Something is definitely wrong 🤨

Me: They just piss me off sometimes that's all.

Zeus 🔥: It's because I have a daughter?

Zeus 🔥: You don't have to sugarcoat things if you want them to like me.

Me: Not everything is about you silly 😏

Zeus 🔥: Are you sure?

Me: Yes. I have to get ready. Mum hates it when we're late for dinner.

Zeus 🔥: Point taken. Don't be late for dinner ✅

Zeus 🔥: Anything else?

Me: 🙄

Zeus 🔥: Ok fine. We'll chat later. I love you.

Me: I love you too 🥰

I put my phone on charge and went to take a shower. By the time I got out of the bathroom, I found Mum sitting at the edge of my bed looking at the picture on my lock screen. It was a picture of us from Awards Day.

"You look beautiful on this picture. One would even think she's yours", she said not looking away from the phone. "They did actually", I said sitting on the sofa that was facing her.

"I'm sorry Angel. It's just that, seeing you so broken like that was very hard for me. I loved Daren like he was my own and when you told me he had an addiction problem I encouraged you to stay with him because I thought he was a good man, then that video happened and I've never stopped blaming myself", she said looking at me with so much guilt. I had no idea she was feeling this way.

"Mum, it's not your fault come on... he fooled both of us", I said kneeling in front of her and taking her hands in mine. "I know, but I can't help it", she said sniffing.

I was about to pull her in a hug when my phone started ringing. We both turned to see Alice's face decorating the screen. "Wanna meet your granddaughter?", I asked Mum while wiggling my brows making her laugh.

Finally, that smile I was looking for. She didn't move so I took it as a yes. "Hi, Angel! Are you there yet?", she asked the moment her camera went on. "Yes and I want you to meet your Granny", I said pulling Mum to the screen. "Hello", Alice said nervously.

"Oh my! You're even more beautiful than in the picture. How are you Alice", Mum asked. I saw Alice blushing but she ended up smiling. "Grandma... can you show me around the house?", she asked making Mum's face light up.

"Of course, I will besides I want you to choose which room you want to stay in when you come for Christmas", Mum said while exiting my bedroom with my phone.

I decided to settle with putting my clothes in the closet considering I was yesterday's story already.
