When LOVE is not Enough

Chapter 33 - Angel

I heard a knock on the door but decided to ignore it, hoping Axel would wake up and answer the door then it stopped.

I fell back asleep and by the time I woke up, it was noon and I was alone. I got up and took a shower. When I reached the living room I found everyone there opening their presents. Mum looked so excited because Axel gave her a collection of flower seeds and a jewellery set.

Dad was opening a stash of very rare whiskeys which by the look on his face it was a dream come true along with a watch that he was freaking out about.

"What's going on here?", I said as I sat next to Alice who was busy taking photos with the camera we got her for her birthday. She was in her zone so when she didn't answer, I wasn't surprised. Mum and Dad hugged Axel. He looked emotional but I pretended to not see a thing.

"What are you making?", Alice asked while taking a photo of me. "Waoh, no heads up or anything?", "Noup, this way I get real emotions from my pictures, look", she said showing me my surprisingly good picture.

"Oh! you're good", I praised making her bow her head in gratitude. "I'm making chakalaka with steak and roast potatoes", I explained and she looked at me like I grew two heads so I settled with putting some chakalaka on the saucer and handed it to her. She took a bite and then two and the rest was history. 

"How are we ending the day?", I asked because I knew she had something up her sleeves. "I told Grandma I wanted us to watch a movie together, like all of us and she agreed so Grandpa will set up a projector out back and we can make a picnic thing", "Need any help from me?", "Yes please, we will need snacks... popcorn and ice cream", she said while taking a picture of the food I was putting on the table.

"You got it boss", I said then went to the living room and called the rest of the gang.

"I really missed your cooking Angel", Dad said making me reach for his hand. He held mine tight as if he was afraid I would disappear. "I missed this too Dad", i said then focused on my food.

Mum was busy whispering something to Alice to care that the rest of us existed. When we were done, Dad and Axel washed the dishes and I decided to go to the grocery store and do some shopping.

Axel wanted to come with me but I told him to stay at the house and keep Dad company considering he looked fond of him. He agreed. I left using Dad's truck, it had been a while since I drove his car so it brought back a lot of memories as I pulled out of the house.

"Well well well, never thought he would let you out of his sight", I turned and saw Travis putting some liquors in the cart with Titan. He had a paper in his hand, no doubt he was sent on an errand by Emily. "Never thought I would see you playing house either so I bet we're both surprised", I fought back earning a chuckle. 

"Yeah, matters of the heart are hard to go against don't you agree?", he said looking at his brother and then at me, I couldn't help but think there was another meaning to it. He was about to walk past me when I remembered.

"Travis, what happened between you and Axel?", he smiled. "Do you have time? because I think we could use a drink for that kind of conversation", I thought for a while and when I looked at my wrist watch I still had a couple of hours before movie time. "Sure, there's a diner across the street we can have that talk from there but I have to be back before 6", I said making him turn to Titan who nod his head. "Sure".

"Why does he always look at me like that? Does he know it's rude to stare at someone?", I asked knowing it was going to piss Titan off. "I'm right here you know", he finally spoke making me look to my left and right then pointed to myself.

"Ah! It speaks", I said playfully making Travis laugh. "I get why he's obsessed with you", he said looking at Titan. "Look, can you just tell me, I know Axel is obsessed with me as I am with him so start talking... please", I had to add the 'please' because without it I sounded too demanding which was not nice. 

"Axel and I were close, like 'best friends' for a long time. We just clicked. I knew he was crushing on Tina, she was the new girl who joined our class. Everyone wanted her but she was a bitch.

She wanted me because I had that bad boy vibe that college girls always fell for. I tried telling him but he wouldn't believe me so I decided to prove it by fucking her", by the time he was finished my jaw was hitting the floor.

"I thought he only had Rachel?", I asked in surprise. "Well Rachel came after, she was also a slut but since we were no longer friends, I decided I would step back and let life teach him a lesson.

Considering that they're not together anymore makes me believe it all worked out just as I planned. Look on the bright side though, he got you, he doesn't deserve you but who am I to judge? Excuse me I gotta take this", he said looking at his phone then walked away leaving me with Titan.

"Why are you looking at me like that?", I asked and he smirked. "Does it make you uncomfortable?", he asked leaning into me from across the table. "N-no, it's just disturbing so stop", i said making him chuckle and then relax on his seat. "Why would I do that?", he asked, and before I could answer Travis returned. He looked at us and raised a brow but said nothing. 

"Does Axel know the real reason you slept with Tina?", I asked as I sipped my wine. "Nah, he didn't want to hear it. The day he walked in on us was the last day he spoke to me, until the day at the club and now he thinks I want to take you away from him", he said making me laugh.

"What's so funny?", he asked not understanding why I was suddenly a lunatic. "Well for starters, you're my boss, and second you're married", I said as a matter of fact.

"Oh, he knows that love and I think you're the one that's missing the obvious. I'm the one who wants you and I always get what I want", Titan said with amusement.
