Alyssa's P.O.V.

I unlocked the door to the coffee shop and got some coffee brewing. I was the first to arrive and the last to leave but I still didn't make enough to survive. Some customers came in and I served them. I got a text from my best friend Nate. He told me that he was going to come and visit me at work today. I was excited because we haven't really been hanging out that much lately because I've been so busy.

I smiled at myself and continued working. I worked all day waiting for Nate to come and he finally did. I smiled from ear to ear when he walking in the door. Right behind him was the same curly headed man. Nate smiled when he saw me and he came and gave me a kiss on the cheek before pulling me into a tight hug. I giggled and he let me go.

"So...how's work been treating you?" He asked, taking a seat at the bar.

"They've been working me like a horse and I still don't have enough money." I said exasperated.

"That's no good. I'm sorry you have to work so hard." He said. I just nodded and poured him a coffee. Just then, Amanda, my co-worker came in. She threw her apron on and washed her hands.

"Hey, Amanda? Can you take that guys' order over there? Please." I asked her.

"Sure thing." She said. I thanked her and leaned over the counter to talk with Nate.

"So, what's been going on in your life?" I asked him. It was silent for a moment.

"Well....a lot actually. Sally broke up with me." He said. My eyes widened.

"She what?!" He just nodded.

"Yeah. She just grew so distant from me. I tried but it just didn't work out." He said. I felt bad for him. After all, they were dating for three years.

"It's okay though. Besides, I've got my eyes on someone else."

"And who is that?" I asked, curiously.

"Just a girl." He said smirking.

"And who is this girl?" I asked, wanting to know. He just shook his head and I gave up. We talked for a while longer until customers started to pile up and I needed to get back to work.

"Well I better get going now." Nate said.

"It was nice talking to you. Love you." He said giving me one last peck on my cheek.

"See ya!" I waved at him. He left the shop and my eyes went to the curly one. He had a cup of coffee and his face was buried in a newspaper. I looked at him curiously, wondering why he came here at the same time every day. It had been that way every since I started working here.

He noticed me staring and he just gathered his things and got up and left. He was a strange man. I closed down the shop when it was closing time. Then I went home and fell asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow.
