Kaigaku and Zenitsu

Chapter 5

"Agh," Zenitsu said as he used a stick to keep himself up, "I'm almost there," Zenitsu whispered as he saw a village up ahead, what he saw made him burst into tears.

It was Kaigaku, and he was wide awake, "K-kaigaku!" He yelled as he let go of the stick but fell and started rolling down the hill.

"WAAGHH"

"OOF"

"OUCH"

"AGH"

he landed on his butt, only inches away from Kaigaku, "Kaigaku you're awake," he cried, and soon Kaigaku ran to him and hugged him close.

And Zenitsu hugged back, "WAAAAAAAH, you're alive. I thought you were going to die. Don't scare me like that again," he cried as they hugged.

"Kaigaku, where are you, oh my!" Mrs Tanaka said, she looked at the siblings who were holding each other dearly, "you're back Zenitsu and all dirty come in and we'll help you get cleaned up" she smiled, he sniffed "t-thank you Ms Tanaka."

"So how was the final selection Zenitsu" Mr Tanaka asked as he sat with him at a table, "h-how did you" Zenitsu stuttered, "you can't fool old folks like us your brother is obviously a demon, but not like any other demons we've heard of" Mrs Tanaka said as she patted Kaigaku's head while making some soup, "yeah we've seen demon slayers before, some also came this way looking for a demon luckily they didn't find Kaigaku" Mr Tanaka said, "hm so a lot happened while I was away" Zenitsu chuckled, "yeah but luckily you survived but you have to face off against stronger demons now" Mrs Tanaka said.

"Yeah I know the one with blood demon art" Zenitsu said, "yeah and Kaigaku has his own demon art" Mr Tanaka said, "yeah it doesn't make sense though" Zenitsu said, "also you know how demons gain their energy and strength by consuming people" Mrs Tanaka said, Zenitsu nodded, "Kaigaku gets his energy off of sleep." She said, "but that's just a wild guess we got, " Mr Tanaka said.

"Huh, interesting," Zenitsu said as Kaigaku plopped down right next to him, "Here's dinner, everybody." Mrs Tanaka smiled warmly, serving some good chicken soup.

"Thank you for the food!" Zenitsu said.

2 weeks later

A swordsmith named Kozo Kanamori walked through the village wearing his mask, as people gave him looks.

He then knocked on the door of the Tanaka's, Mrs Tanaka opened the door "ah you must be the swordsmith, come in" she offered as he entered, "thank you very much, I am Kozo Kanamori" he introduced himself, "ah I'm Zenitsu Agatsuma" Zenitsu introduced himself, then Kanamori revealed the sword and gave it to Zenitsu, Zenitsu gulped then held the sword as it started to change colors.

It changed to yellow, "Ah yellow, what a fine color. By any chance, are you a Thunder user?" He asked, Zenitsu nodded, "Well, isn't it that nice? " Kanamori said, "w-what does it mean?" Zenitsu asked before getting interrupted by his sparrow.

"Zenitsu Agatsuma" his sparrow chirped, "hm" he responded looking down at his sparrow, "you have a mission, make your way to a village South of here, many village folk has disappeared there" his sparrow said, he nodded.

"This is your first assignment as a demon slayer corps member," his sparrow said.

"Mhm," he said, standing up.

After Kozo Kanamori left, he got changed into his uniform.

"You all done changing," Ms Tanaka said, "Yes I am," he said, "Oh my, you look handsome." Ms Tanaka complimented, Zenitsu blushed, "u-uh t-thank you Ms Tanaka."

"You should know most of the stuff about Demons and the demon corps right?" Mr Tanaka said, Zenitsu nodded, "Here you go!" Mrs Tanaka chirped as she gave him a box, "a box?" He questioned, "yeah it's a special type of box it costed a fortune but that's okay cause now you can carry Kaigaku with you" Mrs Tanaka smiled, Zenitsu smiled "thank you your the best Mrs Tanaka" he smiled as he took the box and took it to Kaigaku who was hiding under a futon.

"Here Kaigaku," he smiled as he put the box in front of him, Kaigaku looked at him like he was insane, "come on, Kaigaku," he whined as kaigaku faced the other way.

"Get in Kaigaku" Zenitsu whined, he had tackled Kaigaku and the smaller overpowered him a bit, but he finally almost had him just a little push, "Mmmm" Kaigaku complained kicking his face, "come on!" Zenitsu said, they tackled each other for about 10 minutes til Zenitsu finally got him in and shut the box with him banging on it.

"Phew," he said, as Mrs and Mr Tanaka giggled, "Well, im off bye!" Zenitsu waved as he followed his sparrow.

Time skip

"Kaigaku, you doing good?" He asked in the middle of the travel, there was no response, "he's probably still mad at me for making him get in the box, " Zenitsu thought.

He crossed over a bridge and walked through a town going to the forest and entering a village that was far from the town.

"Well, here we are," Zenitsu said as he looked around, "Okay, what do I do now?" He cried in his mind.

"Did you hear?"

Huh?

"Yeah, about the boys parents, they went missing last night,"

Boys, parents?

"Poor kid, it's been happening awhile and mostly to the young kids, but it seems like it took his parents."

Zenitsu looked over at the people who were whispering to each other, and they pointed at a young kid who was beaten up a bit and was on the verge of crying as he walked through the village.

He felt bad for the boy as he also lost his parental figure and brother to a demon, he walked towards the boy as people were staring at him, "hey kid" he said as the boy looked up at him.
