Kaigaku and Zenitsu

Chapter 27

Zenitsu stared at the ground behind Rengoku's body.

He failed. He was useless . Why did he have to sleep through all this? Inosuke, Tanjiro, and Rengoku fought for their lives all while he was sleeping like a baby.

Tears poured down from his face.

"Tanjiro, Inosuke, I'm so sorry," he cried as he looked down at Rengoku's body.

"What are you apologizing for, Zenitsu? Me and Inosuke barely did anything to help Rengoku at all, " Tanjiro said as he gripped his pants as tears fell down his face.

"Even so, I'm so frustrated," Tanjiro said. "As soon as I manage to break through one wall, it feels like I just hit an even thicker wall," Tanjiro said.

"And all the while, I can hear the sounds of my heroes fighting beyond it, but I can't make it over to join them," Tanjiro said as he looked at Rengoku's smile.

"If I'm still here fumbling around in the dark, how can I ever?" Tanjiro said before pausing to cry a little more.

"Is becoming someone like him even possible for me?" Tanjiro asked.

Zenitsu felt tears streaming down his face. He didn't want Tanjiro to think this way he didn't want Tanjiro to say these things.

"Stop blubbering like a baby!" Inosuke yelled.

"This "can I or I can't" talk is really pissing me off!" Inosuke said, "he already said he believes in you, so you just have to worry about how to get there, " Inosuke yelled at Tanjiro.

"All living things just go back to the earth where they die. Feeling sorry for yourself isn't going to change that!" Inosuke said as tears sprung out from his boar mask.

"Remeber what bug eyes said to you! No matter how pathetic or humiliated you feel, you just gotta keep on living!" Inosuke cried.

"But you're crying too, I can hear it from your voice, and there are tears springing out from your mask," Zenitsu pointed out before getting headbutted by Inosuke.

" I am not crying!" He yelled as Zenitsu fell on the ground.

Inosuke ran towards Tanjiro, waving his swords around while crying.

"Come on, let's go train our assess off!" Inosuke cried as he grabbed Tanjiro.

They all cried and hugged each other as they looked at Rengoku.

They were brought back to the butterfly mansion where Kaigaku and the girls were.

When the kakushi showed up at the butterfly mansion, Kaigaku had tried to run outside, but the girls stopped him before he could get himself killed.

It took them a while to recover, but they were able to move and walk around, but they couldn't go on mission again.

Zenitsu snuck towards the kitchen where Aoi was, he wanted food but he knew Aoi was going to scold him for stealing so he made fake meat buns and took the real ones under the towel and put the fake ones under before heading off.

Zenitsu was walking back towards his room as he recapped what had happened these last few days.

"I never thought I would see the day where Tanjiro couldn't bring himself to smile. It makes sense, though. We were powerless compared to Rengoku, and he even found himself a death star, " Zenitsu thought as he wiped away some tears.

"I don't blame him. It would break anyone, I mean, just look at Inosuke. He couldn't stop crying, and I didn't even know he could cry. He must've been so frustrated, " Zenitsu thought.
