So, I posted this first on my Tumblr.

Steve had lost track of time after so many missions, the last two weeks had been daily, yet he remembered that you asked him to get home early, although he forgot the reason if you had told him at all.

Being part of S.H.I.E.L.D. can sometimes be exhausting and overwhelming, yet someone had to keep the peace of the world and save it when it was in trouble.

Fortunately, that day the mission had been very simple, Steve was going to get there on time, he finished fixing himself, and he had less than an hour to arrive. He frowned when he saw that the lights in the apartment were off, would he have made a mistake in place or day?

No, he was sure you had told him that he had to be home at eight o'clock at night that day, he was sure that he would find some note in case any emergency had arisen, so he went upstairs and... boy did he get a big surprise.

As soon as he opened the door, all he could see was confetti.

"Happy Birthday, Steve!" you yelled. You knew he was so busy that he wouldn't remember his birthday, so you decided to throw him a surprise party just for the two of you.

Steve had never had a surprise birthday party, however, he laughed as soon as he saw you, he had completely forgotten that that day was his birthday, but he was still happy after everything he had gone through being able to celebrate with the person he loved and all he wanted was to live more moments like that by your side.
