So, I posted this first on my Tumblr.

Jack Rollins used to believe that he was almost immortal and that nothing and no one was going to stop him—until the day he got sick.

It was the first time you saw him that he couldn't even get out of bed. You were surprised. Maybe it would be your turn to make fun of him, as he always did when you got sick.

But maybe the best thing to do was to prepare the home remedy your mother always used when someone in the family got sick.

You went to buy everything you needed, and as soon as it was ready, you filled a big bowl with the soup and took it to her.

"Soup is medicine, my mother used to say." Once you said it, you closed the door to the room.

Probably the next day Jack would feel fine.
