Funny enough, Macaque didn't care about the fact he was a 'bad guy' in most of the team's stories. He didn't really put much thought into the fact his friendship had fallen apart.

But now that he was holding Wukong in his arms, sipping tea and sniffling every now and then, his thoughts began to wander. Why weren't they friends anymore? Or in this case, walking on eggshells with each other?  Wukong shifted slightly, he looked absolutely heartbroken and nobody spoke. Sandy had been handing out snacks and tea, creating a calming atmosphere.

"Wukong, are you mad at me?" He looked up and shook his head, "No. You've been thinking about what happened between us, huh?" Macaque shrugged and Mei piped up, "I mean, from what I've heard, it was a big misunderstanding caused by your lack of communication skills."

Macaque frowned, Wukong was at least a century older, born in a grown body. But he was a child, clingy and chaotic.

A child who didn't understand boundaries or communication yet. When Wukong went missing, Macaque had panicked and then stumbled upon a miserable Wukong buried under a mountain. Ever since he'd been freed, he'd gotten clingier and panicked whenever something landed on his back.

"Peaches, are you worried about something?" Wukong looked up and sighed, "...I've been worried lately. I have enemies, what if they hurt you? I was... Actually thinking about leaving you, but seeing how that ended our friendship..."

Macaque bristled, and MK shot up, "Wait! Macaque, you told me he left you! It could be this, except you two never talked it out." Tang flipped through a book, "Well, that explains why later on in JTTW you showed up, ruined Monkey King's new friendships, and ended up in a huge fight-"

A pause.

Macaque frowned, "You're leaving something out. Spit it out! I won't get mad." Mei peaked over, read something, then gasped in horror.

"...for Monkey King's sake... Maybe you should just read it..." Macaue nodded, Wukong couldn't read well if he couldn't sound out the words.

Wukong clung onto him, and Macaque's heart flipped. He saw his friend as something...more.

But as he read the page, the warm feelings left. "...Macaque?" Wukong let go and sat up, observing his darker version. "Macaque? What did it say? Mango?"

Macaque looked up at Mei and pursed his lips, Wukong really didn't need to know what he'd done. He'd killed Macaque and then broke apart in guilt and regret.

Macaque felt warm hands grasp at him, "Plum..?" Macaque sighed, "Nothing, I just... Talk about whatever's on your mind, yeah?"

"...okay..."
