Summer of 1987
A year after the Vecna's downfall

Trigger warnings: small amount of nudity, mention of trauma, scars, flashbacks, mentions of nightmares

Eddie realized he had a problem the moment he opened his eyes. For one he could still smell that cologne Steve had been wearing, he couldn't figure out what it smelled like only that it smelled really good. For two, he was hard and found it extremely annoying.

However because the universe must've decided it wasn't completely cruel, Steve had left the bed before eddie woke up. He only hoped that he hadn't noticed anything.

He scrambled out of bed and walked into the kitchen were Steve was flipping pancakes on the stove.

"Smells good." His voice was a little scratchy from sleep. The food was making his mouth water too.

"Thanks. Sit, I'll bring you a plate." It was oddly domestic. Eddie wasn't sure how to feel but he didn't argue.

Steve hadn't gotten dressed so they were both in boxers still. Eddie regretted not changing but couldn't go back no so he just pulled a blanket over him.

While Steve was finishing up on the pancakes, turned away, Eddie was able to stare at him. Steve had many scars on his back. They weren't as bad as the ones on his stomach and chests, from those demo bats the year prior.

Eddie shuddered thinking about them, considering he had nearly died from them as well, it was a miracle he didn't give himself a panic attack.

He had rotten luck. He had supposed to distract them then run with Dustin, but he had tried to buy more time and nearly died. He even stopped breathing for a moment. Like Max, he had died and got brought back, but Steve and the girls had arrived and he did CPR.

Both him and Max were put in a hospital, her injuries far worst than his, in his own opinion, then vecna showed up a couple days later. Eleven killed him for good but vecna had gotten in his head first.

Eddie shook himself away from the memories. They were too fresh, after the nightmare he had last night. It was a miracle he hadn't woken Steve up.

"I didn't know you cooked Harrington." Eddie teased, deciding it was the best way to distract himself. "Are you sure it's edible?"

Steve rolled his eyes as he set a plate down in front of him. He also set some syrup down too. "You're about to eat your words Munson. Now eat."

Amused, Eddie did so. He nearly moaned it was delicious. Perfectly buttery.

"Holy shit. You've been holding out on me Harrington."

That earned him a real smile. They ate their breakfast in comfortable silence and got ready for work. They both had afternoon shifts.

Steve insisted on driving Eddie to work. They were doing their first activity afterwards, Eddie was nervous but really excited.

"I am fully capable of driving myself Steve." Eddie laughed as Steve continued on the way to Eddie's work.

"I do it better." Was all Steve said about it. "Oh I love this song." He turned up the radio and Eddie stared at Steve the entire drive.

Work felt like it was taking forever. But it wasn't the worst thing in the world.

He restocked the shelves and helped a few more customers. His arm was itchy under his cast but there wasn't much he could do. So he kept working.

Really it was an uneventful day. Jason Carver and the rest of the peaked in highschool pricks left him alone. Eddie was thankful for that, he didn't think he could handle any more unnecessary drama or stress in his life.
