Months had flown by, and Eddie couldn't believe how fucking lucky he was. He had the best boyfriend in the world who loved him! He had great friends and an amazing uncle. Life was freaking great.

The only thing that would make life better was if he didn't have to be apart from Steve at all. They were still spending most nights together but they would have to leave for work or for the random times Steve's parents showed up and pretended they gave a damn about him.

Unfortunately that week was one of those occasions. Steve was being forced to spend all week with them, and he kept calling Eddie to say he missed him.

Eddie missed him too, and his heart broke every time he heard his boyfriend's sad and tired voice over the phone. So he went and surprised him at work a couple times.

He did his best to act innocent but still received death glares from Robin after one too many flirty comments which made her claim "her ears were bleeding." Whatever, it's not like she didn't do the same thing with her girlfriend.

After leaving Steve's work, Eddie went back to the trailer where his uncle was making dinner. It was just the two of them that night, which was unusual since Claudia and Dustin had joined them quite a bit recently. Eddie didn't complain, he loved the kid and could tell Claudia made Wayne happy.

Dinner was burgers and fries, something Wayne was scary good at making. Eddie ate his food happily. His uncle looked a little lost in his own head but Eddie didn't interrupt his thoughts. He just waited for his uncle to be ready to talk.

Both their plates were cleared when Wayne finally cleared his throat.

"So Eddie I have some news."

Eddie was curious, his uncle looked very serious, if not a little nervous. So whatever this was, it was big news.

"I'm thinking of asking Claudia to marry me." His uncle looked at him, and Eddie broke into a big smile before getting up to hug him.

"That's great!" He hugged his uncle tighter. Wayne deserved to be happy, and this was huge steps for the man.

Wayne hugged him back, giving a grunt laugh. But he was clearly pleased by his response. "Really? I wanted to talk about it with you first before I did anything."

That made Eddie pull back, his head cocked to the side. His brows raised as he studied his uncle for a minute. "Why?"

"Well you're my kid. I didn't want to marry someone and bring them permanently into our lives without talking with you first."

And Eddie felt so loved. His uncle was really concerned with his feelings on his (hopefully) future fiancée.

"Wayne, you're in love with her and I've never seen you this happy. So go get me a step mom, auntie whatever you know what I mean!"

They both laughed and spent the rest of the evening planning out how he was going to ask her. Eddie suggested very dramatic ideas but for some reason Wayne didn't like it.
