Steve was miserable. For the past six days he had been the dutiful son. When he wasn't at work he was home, because his parents for the first time in fucking years decided they needed him every night they were home.

This night was no different. He was at some awful dinner party from hell. He hasn't lied when he told Eddie he would rather go up against a demogorgon than do this shit.

He was in a suit, which was itchy and kept rubbing against his scars. They typically didn't bother him anymore but tonight it was bad. He probably shouldn't have mentioned any creature from the upside down.

He was surrounded by the most mind numbing people on the planet, and their snobby teenaged children. Including, much the Steve's displeasure, Jason.

Thankfully Jason had just glared and walked off, probably to cry to his mommy that he saw him. Maybe Steve was just in a bad mood?

He longed for the next time he got to see Eddie, he wanted to be with him so badly it actually hurt. They said "I love you" to Each other for months now and it was past their first anniversary.

Steve had chickened out of asking Eddie to move in with him. Which he regrets now, he had been thinking of the best way to ask for months now and nothing. Every time he had the opportunity he couldn't get the words out.

He wondered if maybe he should just write it down. That way he can fix it ahead of time and then once it's perfect he can give it to Eddie!

Maybe Robin would help him?

He was brought back to his current predicament when his mother clears her throat. He looked up and put on his famous king Steve smile.

"Steve this is Mrs. Carver, her husband is your father's new business partner." His mom introduced and Steve groaned internally. Jason's mom of course.

"Wonderful to meet you Mrs. Carver." He shook her hand. In the past he would use all his energy to wooing her over so she would tell her husband about how nice the family he's working with would be. But now he had no energy for it and decided to do bare minimum.

"I believe you were on the basketball team with my Jason, is that correct?"

He nodded, hoping they would move on soon. They didn't.

"Jason was just mentioning seeing you at a Halloween party too Steve."

His mom's raised her brow at him, distaste clear on her face. She didn't like Halloween or the thought of him partying. Both apparently killed their appearance.

"Is that true Steven?"

"It is, my best friends convinced me to go." That was a lie he was excited to go. He loved Halloween and parties. He especially loved that Halloween. "It was small, just a few close friends. Nothing too crazy."

Both ladies sipped on their drinks. Mrs. Carver was frowning as she spoke next "Jason mentioned that awful satanist Eddie Munson was there, did he crash it?"

Steve felt his stomach drop. He hated that his boyfriend was still being disrespected like this. The entire town knew he was fucking innocent, but still those like Jason and his mom were so shallow minded they couldn't listen to reason.

"I don't know what you've heard ma'am but I assure you Eddie isn't a satanist. It was all a misunderstanding."

She didn't look pleased, and neither did his mom. Who took her by the arm and escorted her to mingle with someone else.
