December 20th 2013
27 years after the Downfall of Vecna.

Steve Munson was incredibly pleased with how his life turned out. He and Eddie had made a wonderful life together. After living in their first house for eight years they finally moved out of Hawkins. Both ready to finally say goodbye.

Robin and Vicki of course came with, so did all the members of Corroded Coffin. Robin and Steve were a badass agent team for them, and Vicki actually joined the band.

It was great. They toured for many years, and still will occasionally tour. They're still making music even twenty five years after their first album was released.

They had all wanted to settle, wanted to have a normal peaceful life. And they did.

Steve was running the truck, he had just hooked it up to rv and was about ready to get on the road. They were going back to Hawkins for the holidays.

"Children I swear if you don't stop running a muck!" Steve heard his husband yell. He chuckled and climbed out of the truck.

Eddie was holding the youngest of the kids. Their little girl Winona. She was only three and she was definitely a daddy's girl. Which Steve was always dramatic about but she still loved her papa so he felt that was enough.

The twins Joseph and Sophie, aged ten, were running around the rv as Eddie ran with Winona after them.

Larson and Wayne watched, clearly entertained by their dad's suffering and the twins antics. Steve shook his head fondly.

"Kids listen to your dad now!" Steve yelled and the twins instantly stopped. He held back a laugh and Eddie pouted.

"Pure favoritism!" He sighed dramatically. Always a dram queen. "Okay everyone it's time to get in the cars. Joseph, Sophie, Wayne you're with Papa. Lars and Winona are with me and the cats."

Lars was their second oldest, he was fourteen, and he preferred to listen to Eddie's music over the music the ten year olds and thirteen year old preferred.

Winona, sweet little girl she was, loved rock music and liked to head bang.

"When is Chrissy getting here?" Sophie asked, she missed her big sister like crazy.

"We're gonna meet up with her baby." Eddie said gently. "She's driving down with Uncle Dustin and your cousins okay? Her college is closer to them."

Chrissy had just finished her first semester of college. Sometimes Steve couldn't believe she was almost nineteen, it was like just yesterday they had brought her home from the hospital.

Steve's wish of six little nuggets had been answered through adoption. Eddie and him loved being parents.

The kids got put into the respective cars, and the adults did last minute checks that they had everything.

Before climbing into their vehicles Steve pulled his husband in for a kiss. Not caring as the kids groaned about how gross it was to see their parents kiss.

"Harrington I think you're torturing the kids." Eddie whispered. Steve had taken Eddie's last name when they adopted Chrissy, not wanting their kids to be Harrington's. But he still got called it occasionally.

"They'll live. I just want be sweet to my husband. Especially before we have to drive in separate cars for hours on end."

Eddie rolled his eyes and kissed him again. "Come on big boy we gotta go if we wanna get to Wayne and Claudia's by nightfall. Call me if you get bored."
~~~
The drive wasn't horrible. Steve and the kids played games between pit stops. They ate lunch at a diner which the kids thought were so retro And Steve tried not to feel old. Eddie just laughed.
They did manage to make it to Wayne and Claudia's house by nightfall. The kids had all screamed in excitement upon seeing their grandpa and grandma.
"Oh my babies!" Claudia had held her arms out for her grandchildren. And that made Steve smile.
Wayne helped them hook the rv up while Claudia took all five kids and the cats inside, telling them that then others would be home soon.
They always brought the rv when visiting, it was easier than getting hotel rooms or making everyone sleep on the floor. Plus it made less noise for the others. Even if Dustin did have two kids of his own.
"Good to see you kid." Wayne pulled Eddie into a big before doing the same to Steve.
"Good to see you too Wayne. Us and the kids I gave been excited about this for weeks."
A car pulled into the driveway and Christina ran out of the car and straight into her dads' arms.
"Daddy! Papa! I missed you guys so much. Also never let me drive with Uncle Dustin again it's terrifying."
"That's not true you asshole." Dustin rolled his eyes, and his kids ran past their uncles to go see grandma.
They hugged Chrissy for a bit longer then pulled Dustin into a hug too before they all headed inside.
The house was full and cramped, but it was nothing compared to what tomorrow at the Byers would be like. The old gang was getting together again, like they did every year, for Christmas.
There was going to be a lot of kids, anywhere from toddlers to teenagers, running around. Plus all of the bow adults who had once fought monsters from the upside down.
Steve smiled as he looked at his loud big family. They were happy, blissfully unaware that there had been monsters. That their parents and their friends had almost died a million times over.
One day the kids would learn the truth, they had questions. They had seen the scars, had heard the occasional nightmare and knew there was something that would make them anxious.
Steve had told them the day the youngest turns sixteen they would all find out at once. Which was probably unfair to the older children who had to wait another thirteen years. But he wasn't risking the younger ones finding out on accident.
The upside down had been closed for twenty seven years. Vecna had been gone for twenty scene years. Steve and Eddie had been dating for twenty six. They were engaged for twenty before finally being able to legally get married. They had been parents for almost nineteen years.
Steve looked over at his husband and studied the easy smile on his lips. He was still so handsome, still the crazy metal head he had fallen in love with. And he just had fallen more and more in love.
Life hadn't always been fair to them but they survived. They grew and adored and fought like hell to be where they were.
It used to be dangerous but it wasn't anymore. Everyone was safe and happy. All the troubles had been worth it for this.
But they could breathe, Steve no longer reached for that baseball bat that was tattooed on his skin. There was no more danger. Just Eddie and their beautiful family.
All was well.
Authors note:
Thank you so much to everyone who has read and enjoyed this fanfic. Literally cried writing this epilogue because I'm going to miss this version of the boys. I started this fic before Vol two came out, and over a year later it's finally finished. I'm so proud and happy about it. I have two short story ideas for it, if y'all are interested I can definitely write those and add those. Otherwise this is the end. It's been fun to write.
