Tw: mentions of past events
July 1988
Over two years after Vecna's downfall

It had been over a month since Steve and Eddie agreed to move in together, and Eddie was beyond thrilled when they finally signed a lease to a house.

The owner was a lovely woman who was good friends with his boss, she was also queer so she knew Steve and Eddie were actually a couple and not just roommates. That was really freeing for them, they didn't have to worry or hide. They could just be.

They were almost moved in, and the trailer was a few days away from being sold to an older man who was retiring and moving to Hawkins to be near his daughter. Everything was all coming together.

The band even was able to get together more and start recording an album. They wanted to for years but never had the courage. There was a basement in the house they converted into a band and D&D room.

"I love our house." Steve said one afternoon, laying on their new couch with Eddie. Steve's head was resting on his chest.

"Me too baby."

The living room had huge windows that brought in lots of natural light. Their back yard had privacy fences which were nice and a small pool, which they were both excited about. Literally the entire place was perfect.

Their landlord, Evelyn, planned to let them rent for a few years and if they wanted to in five years they could buy the house for cheap. So they were allowed to make any renovations they wanted as long as she knew.

"We should get Will to paint something on that wall." Steve pointed at an empty wall. There was a table against it with a cassette player but otherwise it was too blank.

"Good idea." They weren't doing anything major to the house that day. They were tired all week from working and from moving, today was a relaxing day.

All the needed was each other.

After two weeks of living in the house, Eddie got the letter. He was jamming out in the basement, the whole band there trying out a new song.

It was Gareth who wrote it this time, he typically didn't but he was writing about his love life after a brutal break up. The song was amazing and Eddie knew it was healing for him.

Over the loud music they hadn't heard the mail come. They kept playing until Steve came down holding something, waiting to whistle after they finished their song.

"Eds this came for you guys."

Eddie ran over and looked. It was from Winchester Records. It was this new record label that was extremely popular in the metal genre. They had sent their album demo weeks ago.

His hands were shaking as he carefully took the letter, looking over at his bandmates. "Guys it's the record label."

"OPEN IT!" His bandmates screamed.

He did, careful not to rip anything. He started reading out loud "To the members of Corroded Coffin. We listened to your album, and we must say we are very impressed. Your sound is very original but still keeps the elements of the genre."

The boys smiled at each other, looking hopeful. Eddie took a deep breathe before he kept reading.

"We have had hundreds of applicants in the last years."

"Yikes." Jeff grimaces.

"And we have come to the decision to sign on only ten new bands."

"That seems like a very small amount."

"Yeah this isn't looking good for us now."

"Shut up!" Eddie snapped and went back to reading. "After lots of consideration we have decided you are a right fit for Winchester Records and we would like to sign your band as soon as possible. Thank you so much and we look forward to meeting with you soon. Sincerely the Winchester Brothers."
