Egale Canada is an organization that pushes for equality for LGBTQ+ peoples. They focus on aiding relationship recognition, combating censorship, promoting freedom, helping create safer schools, protecting human rights, combating hate crimes, and improving community outreach and public education. Alongside, they do research to help LGBTQ+ peoples and provide online resources for LGBTQ+ peoples in need. They were founded in 1986 by Les McAfee but are currently led by former Toronto politician Helen Kennedy.
I think the group is making a huge difference in today's society because they are truly helping LGBTQ+ youth by spreading awareness and providing them with the resources they need. On their website, it talks about topics such as coming out and helpline resources, all of which LGBTQ+ peoples might and can need. They also share reports relating to their research and provide free training to individuals who wish to learn more about LGBTQ+ peoples struggles.
