The snow had fallen on the fields they used to run in, race in. Arya remembered all too well what it was like before. She could see Winterfell in the distance, and her heart rate increased.
As she walked up to the gates on foot, she was met by two guards. Neither of them were very smart.
"Hey, oh. Where are you going?" One of them asked. Arya rolled her eyes and looked at them.
"In there. I live here." She explained.
"Fuck off." The guard told her pushing her back.
"I'm Arya Stark. This is my home." She remembered when it used to be a home.
Both of the guards looked at each and started laughing.
"Arya Stark is dead." They said. She scoffed slightly and looked behind them.
"Send for Maester Llewyn or Ser Rodrick. They'll tell you who I am." She assured. They gave her a funny look. "There's no Rodrick here." One of the guards told her.
"Maester's name is Wolkan." The other guard said.
"Go ask Jon Snow then, the King in the North. He's my brother," she held her sword with her hand.
"He's a thousand miles away." The guard said.
"It's cold. We're busy. So, you know, best fuck off." The other guard shivered and Arya chuckled lightly.
"If Jon Snow is gone who is in charge of Winterfell?" Arya asked. The guards looked at her funny again.
"The Lady of Winterfell, Lady Stark." He explained to Arya. Her heart swelled with pride at the idea of seeing her mother again.
"Which Lady Stark?" Arya asked.
"You tell us. You're the one impersonating her sister." The guard said with sarcasm.
"Tell Sansa her sister is home." Arya told them.Arya was in the crypts looking at a statue of Ned Stark holding his sword. She noticed it didn't look like her father at all. And she hated that he was dead.
A noise startled her and she turned to look at her sister and mother walking towards her.
"Do I have to call you Lady Stark now?" She asked towards her sister. Sansa hesitated before answering, "Yes."Sansa smiled widely and walked to her sister, wrapping her arms around her in a warm embrace. They hadn't seen each other since the last time Arya was in Kings Landing.
"You shouldn't have run from the guards." Catelyn Stark told Arya. She grinned and looked back at Sansa,
I didn't run. You need better guards."
Sansa smirked at Arya before turning towards their mother.
"It suits you, Lady Stark. Jon left you in charge?" Arya glanced at their mother who only clenched her jaw.
"He did. I hope he comes back soon. I remember how happy he was to see me. When he sees you, his heart will probably stop." Sansa told her. Arya smiled and they all looked up at the statue of Ned Stark.
"That doesn't look like him. It should have been carved by someone who knew his face." Arya told them. Catelyn placed her hand on his face and sighed heavily.
"Everyone who knew his face is dead." Sansa pointed out.
"We're not." Arya looked between them and they both smiled.
"They say you killed Joffrey. Did you?" Arya asked. Sansa chuckled and shook her head, "I wish I had."
"Me too. I was angry when I heard someone else had done it. However long my list got he was always first." Arya noticed Catelyn chuckling behind them.
"Your list?" Her mother asked.
"Of people I'm going to kill." Arya told them seriously.Sansa laughed with Arya joining in with her.
"How did you get back to Winterfell?" Their mother asked Arya.
"It's a long story. I imagine both of yours is too." She said.
"Yes. It's not a very pleasant one." She glanced back to see Catelyn staring at her with an odd look.
"Mine neither, but our stories aren't over yet." Arya pointed out again.
"No, they're not." Sansa said and they all embraced together again. Arya couldn't remember the last time she was truly happy, but in that moment she was.
"Arya, Bran's home too." Sansa said. Arya smiled and looked at Sansa who didn't return the smile. Arya's smile faded from her face.Arya pushed Bran's wheelchair as they walked back into Winterfell. Brienne and Podrick watched the Stark children all back at Winterfell together. She half smiled and Podrick looked at Brienne.
"Catelyn Stark is proud. You kept your vow." He told her. Brienne's chest swelled with pride, but answered,
"I did next to nothing."
"You're too hard on yourself, My Lady." Podrick looked at her in awe.
"I'm not a" Brienne paused for a moment, "Thank you, Podrick."
