Chapter 49

Ava and Jagger were at the clubhouse after school after he was allowed to go back to school. The school bully was still bothering him and Jagger wanted to learn more tricks to fighting in the ring so he would win his fights with the other kid. Elise brought Harley and Filip by so they could visit with their biker uncles and so Elise and Ava could talk. The two sisters hugged as Gemma came out of her office. Both women hugged the biker Queen as the teens greeted one another. Happy hadn't gotten off work yet so they were waiting for him before he could get in the ring with his son. It upset Gemma to hear Jagger was being picked on at school. Ava told Gemma all about the first fight Jagger had gotten into the other kid on the first day of school and how he'd gotten suspended for three days.

"Hey Uncle Tig! Guess what?" Filip exclaimed when Tig walked over.

"Hey guys. What's up?" Tig asked, finally turning his attention to Filip.

"Dad said when I get my driver's license, he's gonna get me a motorcycle! Isn't that cool?" Filip exclaimed with wide eyes.

"Really? Mom and dad are still arguing about me getting a bike when I'm old enough." Jagger pouted.

"What does your mom say about that?" Tig chuckled.

"I think it took him awhile to convince her but she agreed. They're gonna get my sister a good, used car that she likes." Filip told him.

"That's great!" Tig smiled as he ruffled the boy's hair.

"Uncle Tig!" Filip pouted making the older biker laugh.

"Come on, my little ass kicker. Time to do some learning." Happy shouted to his son as soon as he got off work.

"Dad's gonna teach me some more tricks to help me win fights against my bully at school." Jagger stated before leaving the group to head to the boxing ring.

"Being bullied is rough. How has school been for you two?" Tig questioned the twins as Ava and Elise walked up.

"It's been good. Being on the football team makes me popular I guess." Filip laughed.

"Yeah. The cheerleading squad has kept me from being bullied I think. But I'm friendly with everyone." Harley answered.

"That's good. You be nice to everyone because you never know what they're going through." Tig told the pair.

"Want to go watch your Uncle Happy and Jagger fighting?" Elise questioned her children

"Sure." Filip replied as Chibs started walking over.

"What's everyone doin'?" Chibs questioned the group.

"Gonna watch Uncle Happy teaching Jagger more about fighting to help him with a bully at school." Filip told his father.

"Ok. Let's go." Chibs smiled at his son before they all began walking over to the ring.

Bobby was there giving a few tips to the boy as Happy and Jagger practiced sparring against one another. The twins hopped up on the picnic table that was by the ring and watched their Uncle and cousin sparring with great interest. Hearing the tips that Happy had for his son wasn't lost on Filip and Harley. Happy wanted his son to be the best. That included winning any fights he found himself in. Happy wanted to talk to this bully's father but Ava didn't think it was a good idea. She told him to let the school system handle it. Happy was quick to tell her that if this boy didn't leave his son alone he'd be taking action and there was nothing anyone could do about it. He wasn't going to let someone mistreat his son like that!

Ava and Elise chatted about having a BBQ and inviting everyone over including the bikers. Ava said she'd text Remi about it and see what she thought. Before long, Elise thought they should get home. It was past time for her to start dinner and the kids still needed to do their homework. They hugged their Aunt Ava and high-fived their Uncle Tig who had walked over. Chibs decided to follow his wife home since he'd already clocked out for the day. The BBQ sounded like a great idea to Elise. Good food, family, what was there not to enjoy about having a family BBQ? She figured it would be nice to invite all of her husband's MC brothers to it as well since they were always so nice to them whenever they showed up at the clubhouse.

"What's for dinner, mom?" Filip asked as soon as they entered the house.

"Tacos." Elise replied.

"Cool. I'll be in my room." Filip stated before walking off.

"Get on your homework too, sweetie." Elise told her daughter.

"I will mom. I just need something to drink first." Harley stated as they walked into the kitchen together.

There was already hamburger meat thawed out so Elise got it cooking in a skillet as Harley poured herself a glass of tea then headed to her bedroom. Chibs entered the house shortly thereafter and kissed his wife's cheek. He smiled and told her how good things were smelling before grabbing himself a beer. While the meat was cooking, Elise diced up half an onion and a tomato then put the two saucers back in the fridge for them to remain cold. Chibs got settled in the living room to watch TV until dinner was done. Just as Elise was setting the table for dinner, she got a got from the hospital. One of the staff couldn't make it in to work and they were calling her in. She sighed but stated she'd be there soon. She moved everything to the table, called everyone to dinner, and told Chibs she'd see him in the morning.

"What 'appened?" He asked as everyone got settled around the table.

"Someone didn't show for their shift so I'm being called in. Gonna be a long night. You guys be good for your dad. I'll see you in the morning." Elise told everyone before heading to get her purse then leaving the house.

"Poor mom." Filip said.

"It 'appens sometimes with her bein' a nurse. She's damned good a' 'er job. That's why they call upon 'er when things like this 'appens." Chibs told them.

"But she didn't even get to eat dinner!" Harley stated.

"'opefully she'll get a breakand grab a bite t' eat a' the 'ospital's cafeteria." Chibs replied.

The night was very long for Elise. She was stuck in the ER and hardly had time to go use the bathroom as she was tending to the very full ER that night. She had been vomited on, screamed at, and almost peed on by a drunk patient. The ER was so busy all night, she had no time to eat. She hoped her husband and kids were having a better night than she was! It was daylight when she finally got off work and was able to go home. She was given the day off since she'd come in at short notice to work the overnight shift in the ER. It was hard to keep her eyes open as she drove home. All she wanted was breakfast and to crawl into bed for awhile. Chibs was just making a pot of coffee when she entered the house.

"Hey baby." Elise sighed.

"Get changed for bed and I'll make ya something t' eat." Chibs told his clearly tired 'ol lady.

"Thanks sweetie." She stated before shuffling to their room to change for bed.

She was more than ready to pass out but she wanted to eat first. He made some quick scrambled eggs and toast with sausages for her while she changed. She opted to go with a glass of OJ instead of coffee this morning. Harley made her way into the kitchen and poured herself a bowl of cereal. She greeted her mom who just smiled back as Chibs slid a plate in front of her. Filip emerged from his room and made himself a bowl of cereal as well. Harley asked how her night had gone making Elise chuckle and tell the children it had been a long night and she was more than ready to lay down for a long nap. Chibs urged his kids to finish their breakfast so they wouldn't be late for school. The school bus didn't wait around long for kids after all. 

Harley kissed her mom's cheek before heading back to her room to grab her backpack. Filip wished his parents a good day before they headed outside to await the school bus. Elise was about to put the dishes in the dishwasher but Chibs stopped her and told her to go lay down that he'd clean the kitchen from breakfast. She gave a sad smile before heading to the bedroom to pass out. Chibs decided on stopping by the diner to get himself something to eat before heading into work that morning to give her some peace and quiet in the house as she slept. The kids were off to school, his wife was settled in bed sleeping, so he finally left the house to head to the diner first. He found Tig there waiting on his breakfast so he meandered over and sat with his brother.
