Chapter 49- Keep It Together Anyway

Almost an hour later....
Callies pov

Arizona and I were sitting next to a hospital bed with our daughter who had not regained consciousness.

Arizona sunk into me while still holding Sofia's hand. She had refused to accept my comfort since the moment that sofia dropped to the ground until then. Just then Dr. Carlsen came into the room with the results from Sofias head CT.

"Hey, how is everyone doing?" He said professionally.

Arizona glared at him, and I sighed and nodded in agreement to her mood before responding "not so good" while holding in tears.

He sat next to and put his hand on top of Arizonas. "Hey, I'm going to make sure she's going to be okay. We know what it is" he said soothingly.

Arizona changed her stare from Sofia to him and sat up a little, all of my attention was focused on the words flowing from his mouth.

"So good news, it's nothing major. Bad news, its an brain bleed, and it'll need surgery" he said very matter a factly.

"When can you fit her in?" I asked as an immediate reaction. Arizona didn't protest me.

"Uh well, actually now" he said, checking his watch. I looked over at Arizona who nodded slightly. She was clearly in her own world from the trauma.

"Alright" he replied with a smile. "I'll send my best resident in the prep her" he continued with a smile. I nodded in thanks.  He began to walk out of the room, by something seemed to stop him on his way out. He turned back to face us and said "Dan will be in the surgery with me to assist, the residents are only watching. As a friend, I'm sure she'll be fine. As her doctor, the odds seem to be in her favor."

Then he smiled a little when we both nodded slightly and exited the room to give us space.

10 minutes later.....

Sofia was getting rolled out of the room, and as soon as Arizona had to let go of her hand, she slumped into me completely and began to sob. I held her, and we grasped each other's hands. As much as she was the one crying, she was comforting me as much as I was comforting her. After a little bit, I forced her face to look at mine.

"Hey, hey, zona. She'll be fine" I said. She nodded slightly. I put on a fake smile and said "I love you most"

She smiled a tiny bit, genuinely, and said "I love you too calliope" with such love and passion in her voice that I never wanted to let go of her. Once again, she sank into my arms. I stood from the chair, and walked to the couch on the other side of the room with her. The last thing I remember before falling into a deep slumber was us holding each other close while facing one another as she gently caressed my face.
